Topic: My boy is a local hero! | |
---|---|
My boys work the town's fairs around the state..it's a great job and their busting their butts and making bank! Last week an inattentive mom and dad weren't watching their boy (around 4 or so) and he went on the wrong side of the chains put up to keep people out of harms way. My oldest boy saw him and ran, knocked the parents out of the way, grabbed the boy and they both hit the ground. The kid was literally seconds away from having his head knocked off by the ride. At first the dad was pissed and all up in his face, till he realized my boy had just saved his boys life. So he offered to buy him a beer..my boys had to decline since he was working. He was the local hero of the day. Another proud moment for me, I get a lot of those! |

That's so cool, you sound like one proud mama!

you have EVERY reason to be proud of your son. He is a hero and luckily he was paying attention. Too bad the parents weren't.
I don't get some parents these days. The people across the street from me (luckily just moved out) would let their little girls play in the street and out of there sight. These are little girls...like 4 and 6 yrs old. My GRANDMOTHER almost hit the youngest who was playing in the street (no parents around) and my grandmother drives slow as it is!!! |

Yup, proud mama bear...they never give me reasons not to be, only more and more reasons to be.
It really would have been bad, the force would have killed that boy..was pretty intense. It's the kind of environment that adults need to be keeping a good eye on their little ones. Glad it went the way it did..would have ruined the day in so many ways. |

fixed it girl. I'm just that good
Yes he is a hero. If he comes to my town, tell him I want unlimited access to the tilt-a-whirl |

Awesome Kim, thanks! I looked again and thought I was Um, confused.
Actually it's a Utah thing, but I'll pass the message along. Unlimited Tilt a Whirl for Yellowrose. The ride was the 'Trooper', much like the Tilt a Whirl. The thing about it all is that he was working the Scrambler..wasn't even his post.. and with all the chaos, people, and just 'maning' his own spot, amazing he saw this out of the corner of his eye in the nick of time. Yup, some parents need to be a little more conscious for sure! He's feeling pretty damn good about it..really feels like he saved the kids life, probably did. |

Isn't it amazing how things happen. Your son was not suppose to be working that ride that day and yet had he not been there that little boy may not be alive today! No only is your son a hero but he was also that family's angel that day! That makes him even more special than usual.

I was singing "You are my special angel, sent from up above" to my boy after the group of them told me what had happened. I KNOW my boys always wished I could carry a tune. Ever since they were little and I'd sing to them..they'd look up at me with those puppy eyes and say.."mommmy, please don't sing anymore". |

Big hugs to that wonderful young man you raised, Lori!! Even bigger ones to you, for raising him to think about others!

What I am thinking is, your boy got such
good results from doing an unselfish, instinctive thing, that he will always be doing that in the future. And others will follow his lead, circles go 'round.. |
