Off topic but, still in the genre of your post. If man evolved from the apes, why are there STILL apes? Should they have not also evolved?? Is evolution so particular in its species as to which ones move up the line? Do some have to lag on the evolutionary ladder?

When species split, both branches may survive if there is no contention for resources in a way that would necessitate in-species murder.

Also, a branched-off species could have been geographically isolated before the branching-off mutation(s) happen. Darwin used this mainly as a starting point in developing his theories. The fauna of the Galapagos Archipelago gave him the idea.

Man and apes co-exist, because there is enough for everybody, the competition for food, running area, and water, did not squeeze out the other species.

Humans squeezed out many OTHER apes, or early humans. Biped, two-footed, opposing thumbed, smart, intellectual species. But they all wanted the same food, same women (and women, the same men), same water. Early world wars took care of the situation.

In fact, man has become a brilliant animal not due to his struggle to subdue nature, but due to his struggle to subdue his own kind.

War is not the only way to murder your own kind. Men prefer this quick, humane way to finish off their enemies. Women, they are not so bloodthirsty, so they do the execution (since women don't mass-murder, they only get rid of the rotten apples) by excommunicating an individual from the group. They are really nasty with him or her, socially, until the person leaves in disgust or in disgrace. He or she might die soon, living alone in the wild, or he or she may survive for long, but he or she will not produce offspring after the separation. Hence, the species of humans is capable of genetically self-engineer itself.

Societies these days isolate murderers and other people with real undesirable traits, we put those people in jails, where they can't reproduce. The original idea was to punish them and make them and others see the punishment that ensues for a crime, so people will not do the crime. But it served as a genetic self-selection within the species. Self-selection, not natural selection.

Mitch may or may not be real. He is an illustration. We have all known people like Mitch. He may be imaginary, but not at all unimaginable.

However, his last name is Szabo. Mark that well, my dear friends. He is... nothing else, nothing less, than a member of the sub-section of humanity that is considered the most "eccentric", even by eccentrics' standards. He is Hungarian. There are two eccentric European nations. Hungarians, and Finns. (There may be other eccentric nations, but I am not familiar with the general genetic (not cultural) nature of nations outside of Europe.) Most people know that their languages are incomprehensibly difficult, and that their suicide rates are strikingly higher than those of any other nation. Like ten to fifty TIMES higher. But you have to meet a Hungarian or a Finn in person to realize the magnitude of their eccentricity. I know what I am talking about. I am one.

So the description of Mitch Szabo was accurate not only as of a hypothetical person, but as of a hypothetical person who is most likely to be such, namely, a hypothetical but psychologically accurate Hungarian.

The research for the article was brilliantly done, I say, even if it involved no other work but insight-driven speculative fiction.

So, was the fictional 'Mitch' related to Gabor ... ? Enquiring minds 'n all that ...

I'd love to see some sources to back up that claim about the 'fifty times higher' suicide rate ... that's like sayin' the suicide rate in the Seattle area from six months of rain 'n fog 'n stuff is the highest in the country ... or that the dental profession has the highest suicide rate 'cuz they can't deal with constantly inflicting pain on people ... Got some links ... ? Oh - no - not those 'Little Sizzler' sausage links ...

What are you going on about here, Moe? Were you talking to Kings_Knight? Your post followed his, and you didn't address anyone.

Have you read the OP?

Wux often peppers serious and factually accurate posts with humorous exagerration and silliness; I believe most of that particular post was not intended to be taken seriously.

Also, thats what Satan wants you to think!

Lets try this again. You made a comment, in which you addressed someone. That is, you used the word 'you'.

Who were you addressing?

Hey, this almost resembles a conversation! In that: I asked you a direct question, and finally you answered it. You still haven't indicated whether you've read the OP, nor whether you had read the comments in sequence before reaching your conclusions regarding my beliefs

Compare the diction and sentence structure of my first three posts (after the OP) with the 4th and fifth, and remember that this is the internet and you must compensate for the lack of intonation.

What do you really think I believe?
