Could be the 64 bit... have you checked the Microsoft forums?

yes and there is a problem between the 64 bit and "one note" so i didn't install that part of the program.

now every time i open word or excel it tries to re-initialize like is the first time to use the program. also (this has happened three times) without warning my computer shuts down....ugghhh!!!!

I work for an IT company, this is what I do for a living... Windows Vista and Windows 7 are different just like XP and Vista are different.

Open Office can do pretty much everything Office can do. It can read and write Office files.

i understand you are trying to help, but we all have our own preferences and i am no exception. i have used office software for many years and i see no reason to stop now. thank you for your suggestion however, it really doesn't help me with my current problem.

Hey KC. Sorry to hear about your problem. I haven't heard of any issue with compatibility between 64bit and Office 2007 either.

I use both Windows7 and Windows 2007 office suite on both of my computers and I have had no problems with either and I am running both systems on 64 bit.
You may want to call Microsoft and ask them; since Windows7 came out I have found that support from Windows has moved up a few notches.
You may want to uninstall Office 2007 and update Windows7 and then try re-installing office...

Have you tried running Office in compatibility mode? See if that helps any.
