I hear you! But remember, the majority of the people there want us there. We just don't see it that way on tv. I don't wish pain against Islam, just the cowards who don't have the balls to come out and fight me muzzle to muzzle like a REAL army or soldier. That's what pisses me off the most! They strap a bomb to themselves to kill us because they know they have zero possibility of killing us any other way. I've seen some things in my short 25 years and let me tell you, for every one of us they kill, we do in a hundred of them. People ( Taliban etc) should know when they are conquered. But the big problem is these cowards hide in holes and mountain caves in neighboring countries. What most people don't understand is it isn't just Iraq and Afghanistan, It's Syria, Pakistan etc.

This mess started with Clinton. Actually I can argue that it really started with Jimmy Peanuts Carter (remember Iran and the American hostage crisis that went for months. ended RIGHT when R. Regan came to office and why? Regan wanted to go to war with them! The Bushes were both playing the same game Clinton did. What you don't see is that Obama drove us TRILLIONS into the red and he is trying to dig us deeper into debt with his social spending.

WWI was not avoidable. Prussia was on a tear of Conquest. The League of Nations tried appeasement (Which they tried with Hitler prior to WWII) and it only made Prussia/ Germany more aggressive. There comes a time when diplomacy breaks down. Even WWII could have been avoided had the League of Nations not have driven Germany into the ground as punishment for WWI. AS far as Japan was concerned, there was no avoiding war with them at all. Japan had its mind made up to take over the Pacific.

Now we face Islamic Extremists on a Holy War and again appeasements like the $54 Million Clinton gave the Taliban DO NOT WORK AT ALL.
When diplomacy breaks down or they refuse to negotiate in good faith the only inevitable outcome is war.

We offered a peaceful solution and they spat in our faces. What is worst is who is really running things? Our government says one thing yet it acts 180 degrees in the other direction. The same people backing our side of the war are also backing theirs just enough to keep us from seeing who the real enemy is.

The real enemy lives AMONG us all. They are the globalists of Industry, Banks, and the Uber Wealthy! They want things under their brand of order. I am amazed people do not see this. Still we got Islamic Extremists to put down first!

Also civilians always get caught in the cross hairs now and then. the thing is we as Americans have not had war in our own back yard yet. People who start spouting about "civilian casualties" have NO CLUE what they are talking about. Compared to WWII the civilians getting "bombed" have it easier off becasue of the strides OUR MILITARY takes to avoid innocent casualties!

Hamburg Germany and Tokyo Japan were burned off of the face of the map in Incendiary Bombing raids that killed hundreds of THOUSANDS of civilians. 40 people in a wedding die? Sad but not that sad! 40 vs. the 150 plus thousand people who died in Hamburg alone say a lot! The thing is the war is in their back yard because the enemy we seek is hiding there.

Also a lot about Afghanistan is mirror image to Vietnam where N Vietnamese soldiers were in Laos and Cambodia. Also a lot of these so called civilians when we are in town are our friends but the moment the Taliban arrives they turn sides. The "eastern" alliance in Afghanistan has been lying to us all along. They sandbagged our efforts to capture Osama Bin Laden.

I seriously am amazed how little many people really comprehend the nature and scope of the situation in the Middle East, the nature of war and peace, and human nature!

Eklectek, there are aspects of the American political situation you admittedly are not aware of but keep your eye on us! The more you see the more you will learn. Obama has no comprehension of Economics. He is a socialist and a racist in disguise. And he is no better than both Bushs. People like to blame the Bushs for everything but Clinton did most of the damage. That is Historical fact. The bubble began to swell with Clinton's deregulation of lending.

Now for something I am sure you might find amusing, people here think deserts are always hot places. What they do not understand is deserts also get freezing cold. The terrain in Afghanistan is harsh and rugged, high altitude, and it can be hot as hell during the day and suddenly get ice cold at night. Am I right or am I wrong?

And soldiers have to operate in that all the time. Us civilians don't get to see that part of what you go through. People just think you are running around shooting at everyone!

Also I am sure you also were instructed to act as diplomats among the civilian population you come into contact with? That is a mandate among all soldiers there is it not? So on top of that you are a soldier and a diplomat! Am I right or wrong?

I think some of these people need to hear from your personal experiences there provided you do not compromise anything that is subject to security clearances! The Afghani people really are caught in the middle but we cannot leave there while our enemies use that ground to fight us. Hell, the Afghani government can't quite fully get it together! They need help!

That and we need to bomb the shart out of Syria JUST BECAUSE!
