thing are you holding onto for no particular reason, beside just "having" it?
For example, I got this burnt out or shorted memory stick for a computer, which I keep moving around instead of throwing it out. It has absolutely no use whatsoever. It's been around for 2 years now and I see it every day. |

I am better now than I used to be but I still hold onto things that someone gave me. Things I don't use but I store and carry them from place to place. Sentimental value, yea right.

I have a large barn full of stuff for when i need it, but of course when I need it, I cannot find it.

I have a roll of Jane Fonda and Ronny Raygun toilet paper that I have had for far too long.....I don't really care about the political statement they are meant to make, so I think I'll try to sell them at the next Antique Show I do......Thanks for this thread

I am better now than I used to be but I still hold onto things that someone gave me. Things I don't use but I store and carry them from place to place. Sentimental value, yea right. That's different. I held onto a red rose for 5 years, hanging above my bed, the rose I got from my ex girlfriend back in the 90s the first time we dated. When we broke up (after 5 years being together) I didn't want to throw it out, but I wanted to move it. Upon touching it it fell apart and broke into many pieces, it was completely dried out, but it was just so symbolic. |

Garden pottery. When I plant or transfer plants, I usually have extra pots. I clean them up and stack them in the garage. They are cheap to replace so I should throw them away until I need more - and just buy new ones.

I have so many things sitting around that I don't need, and it all cluttered up my room. Lately it's been lotions that I'm allergic to and cannot use. And lots of books that don't fit in my bookshelf.

I hate clutter, if i have no use for it, it's gone!! My kids on the other hand dont want to get rid of any of the toys that they never play with, drives me crazy!!

Hummm I've been in the process the last week in cleaning out my big shed 12 x 24 that was filled with all these things I said I might need later........... So far had a yard sale and sold some of the stuff then gave some to a junk dealer that goes through the neighborhood and donated six big garbage bags full of clothes to the donation box down the street... all good ones. And have thrown away 4 big trash cans full of stuff..... besides what I sacked up...
So yeah my list would be too big on what I hold on too.... But hey at least I'm starting to see that it is time to let go of some things... |

I'm the polar opposite of a pack rat...if I can't use it or don't use it...out it goes! Also..a place for everything and everything in it's place!
Two exceptions: clothes and flip-flops! I have two closets full of clothes...some still with tags on that I have never worn and probably never will but keep "just in case". And I have over 50 pair of flip flops...pretty strange for someone who up until about a year ago never wore them!? For some reason after my last divorce, I decided I didn't mind something between my toes so badly after all??? Like to see Freud figure THAT one out??? |
