So about a year and a half ago, I picked up this book called "Twilight". Pretty good book, so I read the whole series. Then I got my roommate hooked on the books, and it has been downhill from there. One example? I am 27. She is 24. She literally THREW A FIT when I tried to stop her putting New Moon posters in my living room. Nearly every conversation we have revolves around the coming movie, "Eclipse". "Edward is just so dreamy I LOVE him!!" (she's a lesbian)

So yeah. Anyone else start off as a fan and become absolutely SICK of the Twilight series?!

I'm automatically suspicious of anything that gets too popular, except for Pepsi and Dr. Who. But I'm a writer, so I'm pretty much already out of the mainstream anyway.

I enjoyed the books. Granted, they could have been written a little better, but the story and most characters were unique and I like finding something like that. But too much of a good thing quickly becomes a bad thing, and the books are now ruined for me because of all these people going gaga over Robert Pattinson and one-dimensional Kristin Stewart. It irks me.

I liked the Anne Rice Vampire series, well written.
As far as the roomate, had one at your age that put Led Zepplin on one morning- Stairway to Heaven and when I came back that evening...a good 6 hours later...it was still playing!!!!!!!!
Can hardly listen to it this day with out thinking of her. Such a wacko.laugh

I prefer the less romance non-emo vampires- Stephen King's Salem's Lot, Richard Matheson's I Am Legend, Richard Laymon's The Traveling Vampire Show, and Laymon's Bite. Also John Skipp and Craig Spector's The Light at the End. When vampires were still monstrous and evil and not whiny....and didn't sparkle.

Loved the books...little disappointed in the movies but still good.

I just saw Underworld 1 and 2 in the past week though and I have to say that I prefer the more scarier versions also...more realistic. Plus...Scott Speedman is freaking HOT! He can chew on my neck ANYTIME!!! drool

I was very reluctant to read the books until everyone (and I do mean everyone, INCLUDING my MOTHER) told me I should read them.

The movies are mediocre at best but I really do enjoy the books and Stephenie Meyers writing.

No...meant the vampire and werewolf characters were scarier versions, not the movies. Especially Marcus in Underworld 2 with the whole bat thing going on....
