What are your thoughts on an older person dating someone much younger than them?
It's not my thing since my son is 19, but that is just me. If they are of legal age and consent....what's wrong with it? |

I think it truly depends on what type of relationship you're looking for, what exactly the age difference is, and what the emotional maturity level is.

So they did it back then, don't know what's all the fuzz about it. My father was born when she was 19. |

I can see the maturity level, because IMO a successful relationship needs to be somewhat equal...correct? But why does the age difference matter and how much age difference would it be before it's not ok? |

If they are adult and consenting....so be it |

If they are adult and consenting....so be it Morally it's not wrong, the problem could be if the younger one is not mature enough and the older one looses interest. Or the younger one has some sort of a psychological problem and looking for a "dad" (or mom) figure, possibly because he or she has grown up with her parents divorced. Seen that too. |

I think the issue really becomes kids.
If the couple doesn't want kids... age difference doesn't matter at all. They know why they're involved, and all that's really what matters. |

I guess I'm talking more from a society aspect. Some think it's creepy or sick. If the relationship goes south, then that's their problem. I have had relationships go south with people my age. |

The young ones can use the excuse that they don't know any better, and some are just experimenting. Some have the illusion that they are so much better than the available people their age and dating a much older person reinforces that belief.
In my 20's I came to the conclusion that everybody at the age of 18/19 was nutty, so I stayed away. I guess you could also say that the much older person that would date an 18/19 year old does'nt know any better either. I can't imagine thinking of them any other way except they are taking advantage and they know it. Afterall, two confused people make a great temporary match no matter what age they are. |

maybe it's how the young ones were raised? My son doesn't like older woman but what he does in life, he better be prepared to own up, learn and go on with life.

The key is not to give a chit what others think. I know it's easier said than done. It's not their life, not their business. The only reason they do that is because they are either: -Don't know what or on whom to pick on -Jealous -Brainwashed -Idiots. |

I agree. It just amazes me sometimes in life about how others think something is creepy or wrong when they are 2 consenting adults.
Yeah....I don't get people most of the time. I prefer my flying pink ponies |
