Recently I've had conversations with friends that don't view me as most others in my life do. My co-workers (of 4 yrs) still view me completely the opposite of my expresstion or mood is. I continously have people commenting how pissed off I look & in all reality, my mood couldn't be any happier. Why do others read me totally the wrong way?

Sounds like classic projection to me. I would say if this phenomenon was experienced everywhere you went I would say there is something wrong but just at work and in a small group of friends they may not take a expressionless face as someone who is just content with the way things are. it is funny how people are expected to be "bubbly" all of the time.

I get that all the time.. At work people, my assistants think I'm mad... In reality, I'm just thinking and I guess I have a thinking look that seems p*ssed off... Sometimes I'm agressive about my views or stance on something and others take it that I'm mad at them.. I've found that when I'm too concerned people take advantage or assume it's a weakness.. THAT p*sses me off.. I try to be careful but work is work, I do what I do and sometimes soft feelings get hurt...

Am I supposed to have a reaction here???

Oh, maybe I am getting one.

My butt itches!

Hold it...

Naw. I scratched it and the itch went away.

No reaction.

I get that at work. Was just thinking last night of a observance had at work. Mainly taking kindness and empathy as some kind of no intelligence stigma attached. Or because I have the ability to hold my tongue when being spokeen rudely to that I don't have the ability to respond. And what I am doing is thinking, usually, why they are acting so, connecting the prior dots and how someway became involved. I watch behaviors and really listen, seeing what makes people tic, always have. Many would be surprised at what I am thinking. I let my face cover my real emotions, and at times have been told cheer up when the furthest thing from my head is being sad...

You may be a deep thinker...people who are deep thinkers don't always match their facial expressions to their mood. This may come off as a tired, worried or pissed off mood.flowerforyou

My sister was very shy and people always thought of her as aloof and conceited. She wasn't, she was just very shy.

Assumptions suck.

Johnn - show us your eyebrows bigsmile
