I remember when I first started posting on the forums. A girl I can't remember observed "Oh my god mingle has Cliques". She seems like a genious at this point. Any thought? Is this online high school?..........

I remember her and thought very little of her and her accusation... I don't really think it's high school but maybe I shelter myself...

Is this online high school?.......... Even the real world is high school, nothing changes because of graduation...other than the cliques get older. |

Certain folks definitely gravitate. Cliques... eh. I can't afford clothes to fit in to a clique anymore... unless that is, itself, a new clique.
I just like the word clique. |

I think it's pretty much a reflection of real life, geeks, weirdos, intellectuals, pseudo intellectuals, wannabes, good folks, bad folks, folks I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, folks I'd love to have a few beers with, all the good and bad that makes up a real community.

The high school cliques here used to be much more noticeable. Now it doesn't seem like they're around much these days.

Cliques are everywhere. hell, the Sci Fi crowd is REALLY bad about it.
It is one thing to be cliquish but to be arrogantly cliquish just shows how small that person is! |

Judemental people often make "stupid" decisions, because they find it too hard to set their ego's aside. I.E. (Decisions solely based on one's ego... which is sad)... I quit trying to figure random nobodys () out a long time ago. I find it a lot less stressful!

I know exactly what you're talking about, I've ran into them many a time over the years. Though I have to say the the Horror crowd is pretty excepting of everybody....we're all depraved. |

What you call "cliques", in essence is a personality commonality coming together in the formation of friendship forged in forum or those of like minds and understandings. They inequivocally are not keeping others from joining because they do not have the right clothes, car, home, mom and dad. Everyone has a say, in anything they post in and those that gravitate to the same places or like commentaries tend to have similar aspects and outlooks.

every site that i've been on has someone complaining about cliques and about how they are excluded from them.
i liken it to a bunch of friends who've known each other for years and are comfortable with each other. a newcomer doesn't walk into the relationship and immediately become intimate with the other people. it'd be presumptuous of them to expect it. i never paid that too much attention, i guess because i don't care if i'm liked, or even accepted. i make whatever posts i want, and then get on with something else. |

Was just an observation. Don't want to join any club that would accept me as a member....... |

I have never really noticed any cliques on here, nor have I ever tried to fit into anything. I'm just me, take it or leave it.

when I first started here I noticed there were cliques (didn't really bother me though) People welcomed me into discussions even then, but I did see cliques with others back then.
I think it is much more open now. Now everyone join my club |
