New Smack Down Champ caught on tape.

Tell us.

Was she out of line or was she justified.

Do you think one day we may even see her on an episode of Snapped?

Should the teachers on the sideline be reprimanded for not steppin' up to stop it? Or, were they right to not take a chance on getting sued?

Teacher-Beats-Student Video; Allegedly Lashed out After Student Teased Girl

HOUSTON (CBS/KHOU) When their teacher backed one of their classmates into a corner, students at a Houston-area charter school thought it was a joke - but it allegedly turned into a shocking and brutal beating that was caught on tape.

Cell phone video of alleged beating at Houston-area school. (KHOU)

Sherri Davis, a science teacher at Jamie's House Charter School, allegedly backed 13-year-old Isaiah Johnson into a corner and began beating him while his classmates watched.

At the beginning of the video you can hear the laughter and applause from the students as Isaiah is backed into a corner by Davis after Isaiah reportedly teased a female classmate. But Janiqua Johnson, a student who shot the video on her cell phone, says Davis "snapped" and started beating the 13-year-old, according to CBS affiliate KHOU.

The teacher "just started beating him up," Janiqua Johnson told KHOU. "His behavior may have been bad but he didn't deserve that," Johnson said, referring to the teasing that preceded the alleged beating.

Davis was placed on administrative leave when school officials learned of the incident in late April, but was fired Monday when officials saw the video.

"It was horrifying," said Sue Jones, spokesperson for the school. "There's just no other word for that."

Janiqua Johnson and other witnesses told KHOU that four or five school employees were present in the classroom. The students claimed they felt intimidated by some teachers after the video became public.

The school is looking into allegations that other teachers watched the beat-down without stepping in, according to a school spokesperson, and said that it will punish any teachers found to have done that.

The Harris County Sheriff's Department is also investigating the incident, although a spokesperson declined to comment further.

The ones who watched are equally culpable ... but this is no different from 'back in the day' when a group of people in New York watched Kitty Genovese die without doing anything to help, either ...

certainly outside of her authority,,but boy aint tough love tough,,,

she and the kid were equivalent in size and she apparently was trying to make a point to him about bullying a girl,,,I think the point was made, but at the cost of her job and childrens trust in teachers

well he got what was coming to him, but i dont care about him teasing a girl, equality people just as bad if he was tormenting another boy.

We need more courage like this from teachers, schools are getting worse and worse raised children who NEED a good beating to learn whats right and wrong.

I agree that gender should not matter, but I think in this case she was making the point that he wouldnt pick on just ANY girl,,,often times children will pick on others who are weaker....

imagine if you had a disabled child that children picked on , if you cared about them, I am sure it would be possible for it to anger you and for you to want to stick up to the 'bullies' in protection of that child,,,,,,,Im guessing that is what this teacher was feeling

I dont agree with what the teacher did , but because she is a teacher who has other resources not because I cant relate to how she felt if indeed this school environment (as has been reported) is one where children(all of whom arent exactly small) are regularly physically accosting other people,,,,,,,when does it become ok to fight back without being a demon?

I sympathize, but as a professional she had other resources she should have used.

you make a good point, i can definately agree to that, but sadly the "other resources" dont work on the bully types. detention, expelsion, etc. they often just laugh at it and continue on their life. there needs to be an improved methods, maybe return the school discipline in a legit way instead of total beating. lets hope the kid learned to treat people better after this, have some good come of it

the sad backstory is that they would have disabled children in such a bullying environment(supposedly),,,shame there isnt money or resources or concern to provide safer environments for children to learn

definitely, maybe im biased i was one of those abused by the other students kid, id be laughing at my bullys being beat ^^ the school system never fixes it currently, its always a slap on the wrist and back to what they are doing. We definitely need to work on the safer environment as you mentioned.

If teachers beat the crap out of some of these kids a lot more often maybe we wouldn't be having all these discipline problems and kids would actually be able to learn something.

The article doesn't say how the girl was teased. Could have been very minor or not being teased at all but the girl took it as such.

Regardless....the teacher had no right to do what she did. I've been a dance teacher since 15 yrs old. I have dealt with a lot of teasing of some students to others. What do I do???? kick them out of class until they can behave. Let the parents deal with the kid or if they don't do anything, they will eventually have to deal with it.

Suspend the student doing the teasing. Kick him out of class. A teacher can put her foot down and not tolerate that behavior without beating a child up.

If there is a problem with my child teasing someone, then come to ME about it. Anyone lays a hand on my kid like she did with that boy and I will beat her senseless. Why isn't she in JAIL??????????????? It is MY responsibility to discipline my child. Makes me sick. I'd love to bang her head into the ground and wall like she did with that boy. BTW, he was a lot smaller than she was in case you didn't watch the video.

while i understand your frustration,umm,
err,have you watched the video?

its rather f-ked up,to say the least.
the teacher was swinging from right field on that kid...
def wayyyy out of line..she actually kicks him at least once i saw as well.
and that kid is Way smaller than her.

also, freeze frame right at the very end...theres a black fella standing there, doesnt look like a kid.
look to the right of the girl, see him?
i could be wrong, but he looks like an adult.

id have to say the parents have a rock solid lawsuit case here.
unfortunately for the school.

oh, I would definitely say law suit. Perspectives are different though cause I saw some slapping and one kick(an assault but definitely not the BEATING people described) and the kid was roughly the same size as the teacher(possibly two inches shorter, but made up for it in breadth)

let me re iterate,, she was in the wrong,, I just saw something on the tape that I wouldnt define as a beating,,,,or even a beat down
