"It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard self assured
Oh no I know, a dirty word."

In times of tragedy or insurmountable pain, do you find it easier to talk to friends or family? Which one more than the other? Why?

This post is easy for me. I have a close circle of girlfriends who know pretty much everything that goes on in my life (especially in times of trouble). Family is about 500 miles away so I don't like to burden them and make them worry about me. The "girls" don't always take my side though (ha). They're still a great source of comfort and the family I "choose", although I love my family and stay close even with the distance.

As I really have neither, I tend to talk to no one. I'm actually more of a listener.

Maybe it is the entire Midwest? I mean, it never really worked for me no matter which state I was in.

Very few for me to go to...pretty much suck it up and do it myself. That's my path, mostly solo.

Kansas sucks, Michigan sucks, Iowa is awful, Ohio might be decent, Nebraska (need I say more), North/South Dakota sucks, Minnesota and Wisconsin are about equal in suck, Missouri (misery).

I have to digest first. Am usually very good during the crisis, but when it is over , alone, then allow self to think it over. Deep feelings are resersved for one or two that have known for years. Am usually a open book about everything but my innermost emotions and thoughts.

My parents are long gone but they instilled in me the concept of standing on my own 2 feet early in my life-that's a good thing because my oldest & closest friends are many miles away.
