Well for me I'm one of those that is highly allergic to poison Oak/Ivy that stuff just does not like me at all. Go figure I have lived in my house 18 years come this Nov and never had a problem with it.... I was so proud of all the yard work I got done about 3 days ago.....

That is till I woke up around 2am this morning surprised and I was itching and had bumps that had busted and well ya know the rest. Of all places it is on my facenoway noway .....Luckily I had stuff at the house just in case due to that stuff just loves me..... When I looked in the mirror I knew what I had gotten into.

If you've ever been one that has come in contact with poison oak/ivy and it seems to like you. Then you will remember what it does and boy it ain't good on my part...noway noway slaphead

Gawd wish I had looked at the weeds I was pulling the other day when doing yard workfrustrated frustrated But never thought about it since I have lived here so long and never had seen it before in the yard.whoa

Okay some have had it some have not. Some are highly allergic to it where some it causes no problems.............Which are you? Tell us your story about and episode with this devil of a plant........

As it is said leaves of three let them be....................slaphead

In the late 80's early 90's I worked at a Landscape Nursery. I was in charge of grounds keeping. One of the most enjoyable jobs I ever had. Well...one day I hacked down this huge field in preparation for it to be a place to nurse to health diseased trees. I hacked it down first with a machete, then used a shrub cutter...then a weed whacker...and then a mower. It was full of poison ivy. I always thought I was immune. Later that day I went to a party and dropped 3 hits of acid. Later...I started itching. I had poison ivy everywhere. On my face...between my fingers...my crotch...on my tongue...my eye lids...everywhere. See...weed whacking it made the poison fly all over. I had it in my lungs. I was a mess... And I was totally tripping on acid when it hit me. They gave me prednizone to treat it...and that was almost worse than the poison ivy. I was out of work for a week. One of the worst experiences ever.....

Ohhhhhhhhhh your lucky when I come within contact with it seems to spread fast and I end up miserable....... Last time I got into a bit of it was on a trail ride out of 10 riders I was the only one that it latched onto.....I'm just so lucky in that way...frustrated

Took me 2 weeks of taking steroids to finally get rid of it and two visits to the doctor... Hoping this time I can avoid the doctor...... noway noway

I did trimming work for a drilling company one summer.A partner and I would trim the area around pumpjacks and oiltanks. We both ended up with this rash that was a combination of poisen ivy, poisen oak,and whatever other nasty that was there. It was on our arms and ankles. It was awful-unbearably itchy and burned when u would sweat. We should have worn long sleeves but it was 90 plus degrees. I was sooo happy when it finally went away.

Lordy lordy ya had it bad for sure ouch that makes me cringe just reading that...... Hummm yeah well I did not get to use my weed-eater in that area due to it died on me and needs to be fixed now. Sooooooooooooo I pulled that area up by hand instead...

My son came over this morning I told him about it and was not sure where I had gotten it like I said had never had a problem in the past here. Hummmmmmmmmm well we found it okay there was still some I had not pulled up....slaphead

See my son has been right in the big middle of a bunch of it and it does nothing to him.......maybe cause I'm so allergic to it not sure but he is one of the lucky ones....whoa

It never bothered me til about five years ago when I cleaned a big patch of it out from behind my storage shed. Boom! I itched like crazy. I found out there is a special soap that helps wash the toxin out of your skin so you don't spread it so bad by scratching and makes it go away faster.

For me it is just a nusiance when I get it but my sister is so highly allergic that she gets shots every year. If she comes in contact with anything that has brushed against poison ivy she gets a reaction so bad that she looks like the elephant man

Yeah I have some stuff called Tecnu it is a skin cleanser for poison oak/ivy you clean the area with it rinse dry and then put CalaGel on it to dry it up and help with the itching. Went to the pharmacy this morning they said what I got was about as good as I could get over the counter and told me to take Benadryl as well. If no signs of getting better within a couple of days I better go to the doctor....whoa

Tecnu actually will help remove the oil from the skin it has latched onto in order for the CalaGel to dry the areas up and keep it from spreading......

I'd never had a problem with it myself. Except once when I was weed eating a hillside with a pair of shorts on & lost my balance. Slid down the hillside, my shorts pulling up & it was like road rash on my backside for days!!blushing Never has bothered me since!! Guess my butt's just tender!!

I hear ya I'm one of those all it takes is just to touch the plant and it attaches it's self to me...... Hopefully this time I caught it fast but........have it on more places at the start then I have had in the past.... Hopefully by tomorrow it will at least so some sign that it is not spreading farther....slaphead

My daughter had it as a child, and it was everything I could do to keep that child from scratching and spreading it. I found that Benadryl topical anti-allergic/itch seemed to calm her itching in between the oatmeal baths and worked better than the calomine lotions.

and Noxema works best on sunburns too

My understanding is that poison ivy and poison oak is becoming a serious nuisance issue. Its showing up in places its never been before. Related to the global warming issues.

I got a little spot on my chin and arm last year doing the perimeter fence. The goats have done a decent job clearing it out. I've never had issues with it, unlike dad who can look at it and break out.
