For me it is just a nusiance when I get it but my sister is so highly allergic that she gets shots every year. If she comes in contact with anything that has brushed against poison ivy she gets a reaction so bad that she looks like the elephant man

noway noway noway Well I have never gotten it that bad. But have gotten it to the point it normally has covered a large part of my body      Just so much fun I tell ya...noway noway noway

My understanding is that poison ivy and poison oak is becoming a serious nuisance issue. Its showing up in places its never been before. Related to the global warming issues.

I got a little spot on my chin and arm last year doing the perimeter fence. The goats have done a decent job clearing it out. I've never had issues with it, unlike dad who can look at it and break out.

Hummm I believe ya on that one for this was in my own backyard. Ive lived here for 18 years this year and have yet to come in contact with it..noway noway noway Strangest thing I have ever heard for it just to pop up after all these years......

Well just got back from the doctor she took one look and said OMG ya poor thing ya got it good......slaphead

Got a shot of steroids plus cream evidently I breathed it in as well for my throat is all red and swollen so had to go on antibiotics too......

Ohhhh by the way the Doctor said if you ever happen to come in contact with poison oak/ivy and you realize it take a shower in Dawn detergent it will break up the oils and there is a good chance if you do it pretty soon you will not have a reaction at all due to Dawn is the only detergent that will in fact break down the oils from the plant..............Come to find out that is why I did not get it on my hands or arms for I had come in got me a glass of tea and had washed my hands and arms off with Dawn then went back out in the yard.... to work some moreslapheadrofl rofl rofl

Bet I look at what I pull up from now on going after something today to spray on it to kill what is still there...

People don't really think of plants as migratory species but they show up where you lest expect it. Never had a problem with the poison ones....I just avoid them....however when you are on an adreniline charged creep through dense brush during a game of paintball and you got your stuff set to b**ch slap your friends at 13 rounds per second when you squat onto a crippler cactus.....your day is done.

Dock always grows right next to Stinging Nettle ...

Not so coincidentally, Dock is the best, instant antidote to the wrath of Skin Nettle's skin rash reaction ...

noway ...

How did I learn this? ... surprised

... scared ... YooooooooooOooowwwwwwwwwiiiiieeeeee ... sad

i went out in the back last weekend,to get some parts off one of the trucks back there.
checked carefully..no poison ivy..cool.

slid under the truck, felt a scrape? across my butt..no big deal.
figured it was dirt/stones..

crawled out about 10 mins later,my azz was on FIRE....
went into the house, found out i had laid in stinging nettles..
even managed to get hit right under my eye too..rant

two days of swollen face and azz...yay me sad

kristi, when i was a kid i was hospitalized with internal poison ivy...

my uncle made all of us kids, every season, chew the leaves and swallow the juice, as a way of becoming immune. i almost died from it.

surprised ... Woah, that's horrible Lulu ...

That must have hurt SO badly?

At least the pain of memories aren't as potent as the first, real round, uh?!

I feel for you Lori that is some bad azz stuff when you get it internally that would hurt it was bad enough my right eye was almost closed shut 2 days after I started breaking out. Now sore throat as well but.... can handle that part it is the idea it got all over my face that is the kicker...noway noway   But......since this morning seems some of the swelling has went out of my eye and since the shot I have not itched or burned so on my way.

Krupa believe me if I had thought they would show up where they never have before I would have been looking before I pulled several pieces of it first  Guess it could have been worse and I could have been covered with it instead so all is good. Just never knew it would show up in places it never has before..........slapheadslaphead

Hum better then the cactus though Ohhhhhhh that would hurt for suresad2

Thanks Mike I'm doing better now...... but she said the steroid shot might make me where I could not sleep hehehe not shshshhs took a nap this afternoon. Still have to take the Benadryl before bed but......much better then my last experience where I had to take the Steroid pills for 2 weeks...

it was...horrible. i was in second grade, and wasn't a very happy camper. mom had told my uncle that he wasn't allowed to give me the leaves, since i was pretty hyper-allergic.

he didn't listen.

i went for several years not being allowed outside in the summer, for fear that i'd come in contact.

Man! Double whammy, physical illness used against you towards psychological trauma and diminishment of childhood days ... Summer was my greatest treasure!

I guess the great comfort, is that hopefully that misguided judgement call was made w/ love and broke their heart too???

Sure hope so, anyway ... So sad ... flowerforyou

Just getting over my 1st bout with the crap for this year. Taking pictures of wild flowers...must have knelt down on the dang stuff. First time I ever got it was from the oil in smoke from the neighbor's brush fire. What a mess I was...nasty.

Ohhhhhhhh for sure the worst thing you can do it burn the stuff for then it becomes air born with the smoke and OMG all you have to do is breath the stuff in and your a goner. It is much worse to in-hale it or digest it then it is with skin contact....noway noway noway noway
