For one thing illegals are willing to work for so much less money, I am unemployed at this time, have been for 6 months and cannot find a job making what I was at my last job. Take the story 5 posts or so above about a forklift, I have been a certified forklift operator in the past but illegals will get these kind of jobs just because they will do it so much cheaper that I can, I have a household to support, mortgage, child support...etc. I don't buy into that crap about illegals doing jobs that us American's won't....

You said it!drinker

A lot of Americans seem to think all the Illegals do is pick produce.slaphead

And I don't have 15 illegals living under one roof like cockroachs so they can support the household either!!!

If you're unemployed there's a good chance you'll have to take a lower paying job, while looking for something else. People seem to hold off and keep looking for something that pays more, rather than taking anything that comes along.

Thank you, I have, I can't take but so much less you know. So I am to take a job at McDonalds....NO WAIT guess who has that market.. What am I suppose to do sell my house and live in a box while looking for that better job?

right now i dont think there is going to be tons of simpathy for this particular issue...many americans (legal ones that is) are pissed about lack of jobs and illegals working many jobs tends to piss people off....they can go through the hoops like thousands before them and become legal....and i believe if they want that....english should be a requirement.......if i moved to their country i wouldnt expect them to speak english to me let alone demand they print stuff in english for me...id take the time to learn it first if i really wanted to become one of their citizens...,.

I agree with you on this one, Bedlum.
told ya im not all left wing...if it makes sense im for it....drinker

What's better? Taking a job that pays less and making some money? Or taking nothing and making nothing?

it depends, I think, on if one is single or with children,,

when I was single,, anything would do,, now that I have children to support there are expenses that negate the motivation to work for less than a certain amount,, I basically would be working just to earn enough to work,,,,which makes no sense

fortunately, our government does care that kids are taken care of,, so that they estimate a reasonable amount that it takes to give a child the basics and , if you have children, there is some supplement provided you so that this goal can be achieved,

,,,its much more reasonable than 7 dollars an hour, when the gas to get back and forth to work(and to look for work) and the childcare expenses to be able to work will eat that wage up,,,leaving nothing or virtually nothing towards actual living expenses,,,

I can understand that. However, when people are complaining about illegals taking jobs that Americans can have, then saying they can't take the lower paying jobs, because it's not what they made in the past, it gets kind of old.

I was just wondering,,, would it be an issue if ..

a mexican official said ( in spanish of course)
"This is mexico , we speak spanish here"

or a french official said ( in french)

"This is France, we speak French here"

or an Italian official said

"This is Italy, we speak Italian here"

..???? just wondering , because I kind of would EXPECT those languages in those parts of the worlds,,, is it unreasonable to expect a specific language in the USA(not to limit to one language, as most european countries have many languages spoken, but to EXPECT at least the one be spoken)

I love how people can tell others what is best for them, all the while having a nice job and house and most likely never been in the position I now face. What I am saying for us blue collar worker's the wages have dropped so much due to illegals that we cannot compete in the job market anymore. That with today's economy the job market is flooded.

Spanish is an official language in Mexico and French is an official language in France. The United States as a whole does not have English as the official language.

I like the officially this or that part.. Illegals aren't "officially" allowed to work in this country. How's that?

IN general,, there are now 6 applicants for every job opening(on average),,,that means five in six already are struggling and add in those who will come from somewhere else take whatever you give them,,,,,,,see where the numbers end up

If that is all it boils down to,, I think its time to make it official.

It goes back to having jobs that pay low enough that others won't take. I'm not saying it's a good thing, or the right thing at all.

It all comes down to money. If an employer can pay someone little enough to do a job, even if they are not from here, unfortunately they are doing so. Why do you think we have so much outsourcing as well? They can ship jobs out to places like India, all the while laying off people in the US because they can pay other people less.

I know it,, and its a shame. Shame that capitalism doesnt see these types as unpatriotic but those who want to ensure healthcare or education or employment opportunities to all americans are considered unpatriotic and much worse.

If Employers are hiring Illegals, they are committing a Federal crime. If Federal Law Enforcement aren't enforcing the law, are they in essence breaking laws?

Hussein and Napolitano stated, they will cease workplace enforcement.
