Actions speak louder than words, Mr. President. If you do not execute the deportation order for your aunt, then your lip service about the Rule of Law is no change from George Bush.

Obama's aunt still not deported
Chad Mehlman - OneNewsNow - 2/8/2010

An immigration reform activist says the continuing delays in the asylum case involving President Barack Obama's aunt highlights what is wrong with the adjudication process.

Zeituni OnyangoObama's Kenyan aunt, Zeituni Onyango, was ordered to be deported in 2004, but she refused to leave the country and remained in Boston public housing under the radar until the issue of her immigration status flared up three days before Obama was elected president.

Onyango's deportation order was suspended in December 2008 when a judge ruled that she could stay in the U.S. legally until this year when she makes a new asylum bid. But the recent hearing on the case ended without an immediate decision by the U.S. Immigration Court.

Ira MehlmanIra Mehlman of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) says this case is symptomatic of the problem.

"The president's aunt really shines a spotlight on what is wrong with our asylum adjudication process, and it's not because she happens to be President Obama's aunt," Mehlman notes. "It is because her case is all too typical, where you have people who have had countless bites at the apple, continuing to press appeal after appeal...and never actually being removed from the country. And it encourages more people to try to abuse our asylum policies in a similar way. There has to be some resolution in any process," he adds.

Attorneys for Onyango and the government have 30 days to file closing briefs. The hearing could continue on May 25 if the judge does not issue a ruling before then.

Obama is from Chicago.Lying, cheating, stealing, and thinking you are above the law is not a option but a requirement when becoming a politician in that state.Maybe when they throw his aunt out of the country they can take him as well since has never proven he is a American citizen.

I'm sure deporting her will solve all the country's problems!frustrated

If any of us were in his shoes would deporting our aunt be our top priority? I don't think so

not to mention that deportations are generallyan issue for DHS and the courts,, NOT The president.,,,

no less wrong for him to intervene against her than it would be to intervene on her behalf,, he is allowing her to have the SAME process and treatment as any other deportee,,
