Woke up this morning...showered (this is important)...put on a purple shirt (not seemingly important)......kicked back throughout the A.M. doing the family/friends phone calls.....COOL!
..Procrastinated on..and then actually got around to some chores....again GOOD! Got hungry and walked down the way for some Chinese food..YUM! ...as the cool Chinese waiter kid gave me my soup bowl I looked down at my purple shirt and realized it said "Rex Kwon Do" (from the movie "Nepolean Dynamite").. I was "wondering" about it for a minute and then got offended at myself for even worrying. This kid probably knows more about popular culture than I do, and didn't even think twice. At least I showered, but do we worry TOO much about offending? Guess I do. |

I don't know the shirt you speak of..never saw that movie. But I don't worry about offending. I mean, I don't swear around those who don't like it, I'm a polite smoker, with day to day living.. no, I don't worry about what others think. People will always find something to be offended about..I'm not going to walk around on egg shells because someone may find something I say or do offensive. People choose to be offended, I don't take things personal. I rather enjoy the freedom to be myself.

I must admit...I DO like talking pro-gun control at Republican events. Sometimes I LIKE being offensive.

I don't care usually.

I think some people can be personally offended by things (and that is their prerogative)
It is the prerogative of the "offender" to wear what he wants. Can't control what others think or feel. we can only control ourselves and our reactions to thngs |

Well, that's just the rebel side, some of us just have that. I know for me living in this very religious, stifling community I do tend to intentionally "offend" on occasion. Just doing my part to lighten up the neighbors...

if you think about it....anything someone does or says will offend someone. you can't please everyone That's right.. We had a BBQ yesterday..all of us "outcasts" in the neighborhood. Music playing, drinking, a good time was had by all. A little cluster of neighbors were hanging around a mailbox, pointing over at us, grumbling, giving us stink eye. We were minding our own business, BBQ with loud music and booze, some ganja...some choose to be offended because we BBQ different than they would, I suppose. The way I see it, that's their problem, not ours. |
