Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. However, it's usually pretty annoying to the person you are trying to imitate.

you would tell that to them as a compliment??

wow.

Um, no. I was thinking of my daughters when I wrote that. My youngest is always "copying" her older sister. And, this annoys the older one in spite of my telling her that she only does it cause she looks up to her and thinks she's cool.

My sister answered a question "who is your hero", she wrote "my big sis b/c she's the strongest person I know"... She never told me about it, I found it on her profile on a social site... It touched me deeply...

Greatest compliment I have ever received:
When I used to program the big main frame computers,
back in the day, the VP of the company said to me..
"You are the closest thing to a human computer I have ever seen ."

The greatest compliment I can give:
I give my time.

Some years ago, a girl knocked on my door, and when I answered, she said "I knew you were an artist the first time I saw you."

Since I had never seen her before, I thought that was a little odd, but a nice thing to say, anyway. OK, so it turned out she was a stalker, but in a good way!

Personally, just to take this at a philosophical level, the greatest compliment is the indebted antithesis to the individual's greatest self-fear.

I was at a family dinner at my parents house with my kids and grandkids and my smart-*** daughter was fishing for a compliment frommy dad and asked him who he thought was the smartest in our family.....without hesitation he said "your Mother"....totally took me by surprise and actually made me cry, I never knew that is what he thought

The verbal compliments we receive make us feel all warm and fuzzy but there is one form of compliment that revolves around imitation and copying.
At first, I was peeved that someone copied my product in China but after a while I felt confident in my abilities to continue improving and developing products in a way where they would be copying obsolete technology...

Now it's "keep up with me if you can" and I'm lovin it!
