Topic: What to you is a "non-believer"? | |
---|---|
Hi, I'm a new member.
After reading the topic forum on here I was a bit confused. What makes someone a "non-believer?" Just because a person does not affiliate with a specific religion does not mean they are not a believer when you look at it. Some people don't claim a certain religion but yet they believe in a variety of things and tend to be spiritual in some way. Atheists and agnostics may not believe in God but believe in different aspects from cultures and other religions. Some may favor the Egyptian beliefs or Greek mythology. Whatever, you get my point right? |

Personally I don't have a category or specific title on my beliefs but I
like a variety of spiritual things. |

Good question Wild.
I don't have a religion, but I believe in one God, so I wouldn't call me a non-believer. A Christian calls everybody who doesn't believe in Jesus a non-believer. |

Hi Invisible :)
I really love your point. That you said you believe in God but don't refer to yourself as a non-believer. That makes sense to me! Do ALL Christians do that or just a select few that you have experienced? |

My belief of a non-believer is a person that does not believe in Christ.
As long as you Believe and have faith in Christ you are considered a believer whether you are affiliate with any demonination. |

I believe in one source for all but my experience cannot be confined
within a specific dogma. Sooooo I am very spiritual but not religious at all. |

I consider myself spiritual but not religious. By that, I mean that I do
believe in a higher guiding force...God if you want...but I don't believe that I am required to go to church to worship. I can do that in an open meadow, a thunderstorm, or my bathroom...if I so choose. Religion became quite a business...TV evangelists...maybe that soured me. I only consider Billy Graham to be that...just him! The rest are in it for the bucks! I've always said ...support your local church...but don't give those guys a penny! Lucky for me, they consistently prove me right. |

Thedoctor you have a POWERFUL point indeed. I would say you are a
believer. You believe in God right? That's a believer of something right? Just because you don't choose an organized way doesn't mean anything. I know plenty of Christians who step away from strict churches to worship freely. What it boils down to is your love, devotion and most of all faith.* Unfortunately, some of the followers of many religions today set a TERRIBLE example and may give a dirty representation of what they're about. Then on the otherhand that shouldn't make someone stereotype or believe every single believer is like that. |

everyone believe someone, God or the Gost.. but the do believe. so they

Wonderman, I think the words 'spiritual' and 'religious' mean different
things to different people... I had to laugh at Cute's post, I thought it was funny, and I mean no disrespect to you. Because I tend to associate 'Biblical authority' with religion more than spirituality. It took me a moment to realize that differing views on 'spiritual' and 'religious' actually encompass -both- of your (Wonder & Cute) interpretations. |
