Jesus, I am so tired of the bs. People are fighting over the wrong ****ing issues. We have people dieing over seas in war, that's an issue. We have an economy that is being flushed down the toilet, that's an issue. We have homeless and jobless rates going up on an daily basis, that's an issue. We have crime rates at all times highs, thats an issue. We have N. Korea and Iran trying to provoke us into incidents on a daily basis, thats an issue.

Petty **** like this isn't. Who cares? Who cares if their gay, straight, bi, tri, omni or what ever else there is? Do they not have the right to be happy like the rest of us? I am sure these to girls do more with eachother on a daily basis during school hours then they will at a couple hour long prom.

We need to get passed this petty **** of not giving LBGT people the right they not only need, but deserve as human beings. We need to start focusing on the issues that matter, not common sense non-issues like this.

well, of course it is an issue,, it just isnt as MUCH an issue to some as it is to others,,, and I am not witnessing fighting but instead I am reading people posting their opinions on a thread

It's a damn issue that doesn't need to be an issue. We are focusing on stupid stuff........

let me throw this in here (keep in mind I don't think a gay couple shouldn't be allowed to attend)

Proms around here aren't paid from taxes. They are paid from fundraisers, ticket sales, wheeling and dealing with hotels or whatever. If enough parents are opposed to the couple going, then the prom wouldn't have enough funds to hold a prom....correct?

I have no problem with a gay couple going to a prom together and I wouldn't keep my son from attending the prom....but that is my choice. There are parents that feel differently. That is their choice.

I don't agree with not allowing a gay couple to attend a prom just like I don't agree with not allowing players pray before a game as long as it isn't forced on others. Can't please everyone I guess and never will be able to. I'm just glad my son's school didn't have a problem with it.

But what about the parents and people who paid into the fundraising and are NOT opposed to it. Is the money going to be refunded to them? I'd be upset if I bought stuff to help with someone's prom, and found out there was discrimination like that going on. My money would have gone to ALL of those kids, not just the straight ones, who have male/female dates.

well, unfortunately, due to the media circus,,,,its not certain the kids would have enjoyed themself anyhow (people all over the country and reporters were sure to show up...)

very true...i would be too, but I wouldn't pull my son out of the prom either. But others might make the choice to not buy tickets over it, as well. That is their choice.

I'm just giving something to think about though. If enough parents were against the couple and didn't buy tickets or contribute to the fund raisers, then there wouldn't be much of a prom, if one at all.

I'm not saying one way is right or wrong...we all have our opinions. I know it's a difficult balance to try to meet in the middle for everyone. Not saying the school made the right decision either.

this isn't just a political forum. it's a current event forum as well. If it doesn't interest you, then there are other topics out there.

There is nothing wrong with posting topics other than the HC or what politician did what to who

Once again we have the gay mafia try to dictate what a entire town should think or believe simply because they say so.If the entire town and high school does not want the gay lifestyle invading their schools they have a right to stand up and be heard.I have been following this story from when it first broke about a month ago.She already went to court and lost. Why?Because the school already had a policy years and years before this girl came to school that same sex couples was not allowed at prom. They had a policy about dress code the same way thousands of public schools do around the country.I don't see how it is discrimination when the rules were written probably before she was even born. Why the gays think that somehow rules, regulations, dress code, laws, and other statutes put forth by the town are somehow immune from them because they are gay is just nonsense.

This girl should have accepted the fact that the school has rules and laws just like any other school and she has to abide by them. She has turned this town into a media circus. The people who live there are getting called every name in the book. The schools principle is getting death threats. It is a mess all because this girl thinks that her way of thinking is the way all people should think. The principle tried to end the mess by canceling the prom(which thanks to her is ruining everyone's prom)and the fricken ACLU demands them to put it back on which is just causing a media firestorm and disrupting the entire school.

Being gay is not a right.Going to prom is not a right. The only thing you are doing by supporting this girl is causing a entire town to be turned upside down and saying what the believe doesn't matter. What they say does matter and if the entire town doesn't want to accept her lifestyle they shouldn't have to.

Just like the gay marriage issue the gays are going to whine and complain, sue, threaten, and call anyone who disagrees with them a bunch of racist homophobes. They are only digging a deeper hole and what little support they probably got from this town is now gone as the gays treat them as someone who needs to be destroyed.

You're correct. It should not be an issue. But, unfortunately, there are still people who want to tell everyone what is "normal" and how they won't accept anything different than their view of "normal."

of course its a right to be how you were born,,,

going to a dance, however, is a privilege that has usually come with some GUIDELINES about what the dance theme will be

Gays don't have any more rights than any other American. It's a lifestyle that is chosen to live.If gays have special rights in the Constitution or the Bill of rights I would love to read about it because I don't remember reading it anywhere.

We do however have the freedom of religion...Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF.That means if the gays and the ACLU are demanding we lose our faith and values because of what they tell us to do they are violating our rights to express our freedom of Religion. We have the rights it is in the Bill of rights.

I don't see much difference between Hitlers way of thinking and the Gay mafia. They both wanted religion destroyed and freedom of speech and thought re-written to suit their needs.Gays love to speak of tolerance but show nothing but hate to those who oppose them.

The Fulton, Mississippi School was in full violation of the Equal Access Act Rights, which applies to all federally funded public schools, and violated the same rights (no 'special rights' as Sir 'Thomas' demagogically and heretically claims) Ms Millenn enjoys as every other human being, in most free world countries: IT IS ILLEGAL TO DISCRIMINATE BASED ON SEXUAL ORIENTATION, ... PERIOD.

The school is breaking the Equal Access Rights Law under the first Amendment of the US Constitution. End of subject.

The school's only 'out', was to cancel the event all together, a mean and unchristian gesture as it is, only to soothe the local unchristian bigots, because the school had no legal leg to stand on in refusing access to to the Prom to Ms McMillenn and her female friend.

As you explicitly prove right here with your post, no one is stopping YOU from practicing YOUR religious freedom.

Discriminating against other human beings, even when you justify it through confused ad self-serving interpretations of christian dogma, is immoral and illegal!!!

I wasn't saying here, I was saying with the National Media, all's they care about is crap like this or which cleb is screwing who. It pisses me off things like this take the media's attention off the issues that really matter and put them on an issue that shouldn't even be an issue.
