As if the Democrats have given a rats a** what the Republicans have to say since Obama took office.I don't blame them for walking out early.I'm sure the Democrats could care less if the Republicans are there and even less about what they have to say. After the Democrats locked the Republicans out of the health care talks they should not be surprised when the Republicans take no interest in what they have to say.

They didn't walk out on the military, they walked out on the Dems and their socialist agenda.

Besides we all know what the Libbos think of our military and the men and women in it.

And what is it that "Libbos" think of the men and women in the military?

Well I have heard them called murderers, terrorists, rapists and war criminals up close in person by members of our state Democratic Party at a counter protest here in Carson City with Medea Benjamin and Cindy Sheehan leading the way. Not to mention some ugly names they called Congressman Duncan Hunter including calling him a war criminal for serving in the USMC.

So, you believe that's what all liberals think? Just because you've heard some say those things? Awfully broad generalization, don't you think?

Irrelevant to the matter at hand. I have no desire to go to either of those places at this time. Besides, I'm much less fearful of Korea or Iran because they don't have as lengthy a history of unprovoked, irrational violence as the US Federal State does. We are now supposed to believe that presidential executive orders can supercede law, so congress is irrelevant..

GOP Senators Refusing To Work Past 2PM, Invoking Obscure Rule

"Senate Republicans fuming over the passage of health care reform are now refusing to work past 2 p.m. -- a tactic they can employ by invoking a little-known Senate rule.

On Wednesday, the Judiciary Committee was forced to cancel a hearing as was the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) tweeted today : "Disappointed. Rs refusing to allow hearings today. Had to cancel my oversight hearing on police training contracts in Afghanistan."

Sen. Mark Udall also complained that he had to delay a hearing on the cause of Western forest fires.

Making good on Sen. John McCain's threat to withhold all Republican cooperation from Democrats in the Senate in retribution for the majority party using reconciliation to pass health care reform, the GOP used the rule that states committees can only meet when the chamber is in session with the unanimous consent of all members. That consent has almost never been withheld -- until now.

Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.) asked for consent for his panel to operate Wednesday afternoon. He noted, ironically, that his request had the support of McCain.

"There is objection on our side of the aisle and therefore I object," said Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.).

The GOP objection blocked testimony from Admiral Robert Willard, United States Navy Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command; from General Kevin Chilton, United States Air Force, Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, and from General Walter Sharp, United States Army Commander, U.S. Forces Korea."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_511639.html

Seems the GOP can just go home, grab a beer, kick back and let their minions do the work. Won't even get their hands dirty. The U.S. News & World Reports article on the threats and violence that has begun made me shudder. It's as if the GOP has simply made the snowballs and can now sit back and watch others throw 'em. And the best part? They have no accountability for what may happen, whether it be threatening notes or severed propane lines. As per usual, the big guys can denounce the actions with sidelong winks, and the little guys can take the fall for them.

We remain a nation of sheep with very few of us, right or left, capable of thinking for ourselves, let alone negotiate, compromise or even acknowledge an understanding of another's point of view. The 'love it or leave it'/'my way or the highway' method of discounting the views of fellow citizens has been flung about for as long as I can remember. As in any type of us/them issue, the truth and solution most likely lies somewhere in the middle. I doubt I'll live to see light shed on that truth...I have given up on any hope of seeing a solution.

As far as executive orders superceding law? The last president had no problem with that, and I'm sure others will be happy to give examples of more...both Dem & Rep. And as far as the GOP not walking out on our military when they decided to cut their day short? So what? Not staying to listen to the good man was what...just 'collateral damage' on the war on Obama's agenda? This is not a war! I'm sure the good Admiral would have been willing to explain exactly what a war is. I understand that our lives depend on the decisions these men set out to make for us, but to conduct it as a war? I fear the body count on this 'war' will be counted in numbers of "sheep".

Seriously? Iran or N. Korea doesn't have a history of violence? THey only murder (in cold blood) protesters who protest election results, imprison or sentance to death people who speak out against their regime (Both Iran and Korea) Not to mention Iran loves to have border wars\disputes with it's neighboring countries.

because otherwise, the opposite would be true,, if the buck STOPPED at congress we wouldnt need a president, the system is in place so each part can keep an eye on the other parts

president CAN override congress because he is at the TOP of the chain, just as a JUDGE is at the top of the JUDICIAL chain and can override the jurors, however even when a president issues an executive order,, there is a system in place to override it as well

Congress may overturn an executive order by passing legislation in conflict with it or by refusing to approve funding to enforce it. In the former, the president retains the power to veto such a decision; however, the Congress may override a veto with a two-thirds majority to end an executive order

when I took government its what they referred to as CHECK AND BALANCES

I cannot not find anything about "libbos" calling anyone in the military "murderers"....and I was a war time Marine and never heard it either.

Sheehan is opposed to the war NOT the troops...but this thread is about the GOP walking out because they are childish losers.

They had EVERY opportunity to participate in the debates and contribute. Yesterday Tom Coburn (R-OK) tried to amend the bill to force it back to a vote when all along he could have gotten the amendment into the original bill. This was just a ploy to again delay passage. He can at anytime introduce a new bill that would pass. What an azzhole...
