Basically Under the health care bill, all Americans would be required to have health insurance.

Large companies would have to offer coverage to their employees, and both consumers and companies would be slapped with penalties if they defy the government's mandate.

For low-income Americans, the bill would provide subsidies for buying insurance if they don't receive it through an employer. It would also create a federally regulated insurance exchange where individual Americans could shop for coverage.

What it does will totally depend on who you ask.

The reason they don't say what it is is because they don't know themselves.

Obama got voted in on healthcare reform and he is doing what we voted him in for. So to say that Americans do not want it, is not true. Obama got in to do it.

And if his idea of immigration " reform ", which is next on the agenda starting tomorrow, winds up being amnesty ( which the Dems will ALSO shove down our throats even though the VAST majority of Americans would be against it ), he's gonna LOSE by a landslide in a couple of years.

Unfortunately, by then it will be too late to undo the damage.

True enough. Mc Cain did as well. I concede the point. flowerforyou

The problem, though, is that now that the Dems have slammed THIS down our throats, nothing will stop them from doing it for the next thing.

How much ya wanna bet they REALLY start pushing to get it done before November?

Right now we pay approximately twice as much per person on healthcare annually than most other developed countries while our system ranks about 37th internationally in terms of quality of care.

This is because there are great inefficiencies in our system due to the exhorbitant cost of the insurance industry, poor administration and denial of coverage and service to our citizens who actually need care because of their illnesses.

A ridiculous amount of wasted energy and pain results from patients having to fight with their insurers, hospitals and doctors just to get the care they need to stay healthy. In the worst examples people have been delayed getting coverage during insurance denials until they actually die.

Since the cost is so high even for the countries paying half what we do, it is the single most important flushing of cash down the toilet in our society and it must be reformed and almost everyone agrees on this point. How it should be reformed has become a fierce partisan political battle that the democrats and Obama have just won.

Here is the official White House description of the issue:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/Issues/health-Care

But basically the goal is to drastically cut our health care costs per person while at the same time providing coverage for everyone and improved quality of care. Since so many other countries paying half of our coat are already doing this, we know that we can do it too.

This is only the first step in the process but it is very important
to get the process started right away before more cash is sucked
down the drain and more people get denied care and suffer. The
sooner we get healthcare reform started the sooner we will reap the
economic and health care benefits.

oops offtopic

I had read and been told that anytime you go to a .gov site, that now the govt can access your computer and scan whatever you are doing/done. Do you belive this?
