We Americans were willing to spend trillions of dollars to go to (illegal)war and kill millions of innocent people but we are unwilling to spend any money to save those of us who have no healthcare.

How can that be? What does that say about us?

It says we are compassionate  but have tunnel vision. Help starts at home. I know people elsewhere need help.flowerforyou But doesn't help usually come within. ie.."You must love yourself before anyone else truly can." We must help ourselves before we outreach to others. We are drowning and sending rafts to other countries! It is ludacris!

Helping others by killing them?

I do not agree with this at all. If we can help others we should be helping. We can still help at home if we help elsewhere. It is not an either or situation.

Umm last time I checked we continue to be at war simply to help the stupid Iraqi government get into check. I'm against that! noway And we are killing to defend ourselves(soldiers) not to cause tyrany. Killing doesn't solve anything but standing there being a target to help a foreign government is UNACCEPTABLE.

It says we are like the unfaithful spouse, trying to impress the pretty young thing they see across the way, while neglecting to do the same for the one they have at home,,,

Helping those who legitimately need help is one thing, But I am 100% against helping those who illegally cross into this country and those who want to stay at home having babies so they don't have to work! People who have disabilities such as blindness, paraplegics, and those with diseases like cancer patients etc I have no problems with helping. But anyone who feels they are entitled to something can piss off as far as I'm concerned.

Except , when we pay taxes, and they go to things like education or transportation infrastructure, there is no way to go through individual by individual and make sure that those who are illegally here or those who are here and 'sitting' at home arent utilizing those roads or that their kids arent utilizing the educational system. There just is no way to ensure only those 'we feel' deserve americas privileges receive them, but I would rather bring food to a room full of needy people, knowing some of them might already have food, than to not bring ANYTHING to anyone.

Too bad most who think this way are not even qualified to determine who would fall into any of those catagories, making themselves look hateful and foolish.

People can't just sit at home and get benefits anyway so that is an irrelevant argument to have.

Illegals don't get any benefits from the government either so that is also an irrelevant argument to have too.

Why should anyone go to work, pay their own way then be forced to give money to people that don't even try to contribute to society?

Rhetorical question! I already know the answer, those who work SHOULD NOT have to pay for those who are do nothings!

msharmony, you are right about taxes and roads and education! These are things that I HOPE will CHANGE.

Using words like hate filled, hate monger, fear mongerer etc has no impact on me what so ever. Not to mention calling some one that or implying that is against the rules here.

People sit at home everyday in this country and receive benefits, and I'm not talking about the unemployed right now either.

How can that be? What does that say about us?

1) the military-industrial-government complex makes war profitable for government and industry cronies

2)People don't spend money on other people's health care for the same reason they don't spend money on other people's cars. There is no incentive to do so.

3) it says about "us"-"we" have an intuitive understanding of how to best spend our money, and the government is incompetent at everything it does. 'nuff said.

Maybe they don't get benefits now but if the current administration has their way they soon will have.

What is also sad, is that people don't see we are already paying an outrageous amount for the uninsured. We could actually save a great deal of money if everyone were insured, even if only for the most basic level of care. We wouldn't be taking care of so many in catastrophic situations. We could be treating hypertension before it was a disabling stroke...or diabetes before it required amputation or kidney dialysis...cancer while a successful full recovery was still possible. People don't seem to realize that uninsured people do get treatment (and we, the people, pay for most of it), but usually only when their illness has progressed and requires the most expensive treatment, support and care.

It happens everyday, and we pay for it. It would be much cheaper to pay for the treatment of chronic illnesses. Much less expensive in terms of money, but also in resources and human suffering. Until the people are willing to step over the uninsured stricken by illness or injury, we will continue to pay for their care. It is part of what living in a community involves...it is part of being human. Until we provide health care for everyone in a more economical fashion, we will continue to pay top dollar for the care of the uninsured. It's not rocket science.

I think cars are not a NECESSITY like healthcare is.

I think we pay for EVERYONE to be protected from acts of war in this country (with a military)

I think we pay for EVERYONE to have dependable venues for transportation

I think we also pay for EVERYONE to have access to an education for their kids

It says we prioritize things and while our safety and our access to interstate travel are enough a priority for us to invest in,,, our HEALTH may not be

yes, I agree. All TAXPAYING citizens (which to survive , you HAVE to work and therefore pay taxes) are paying for their 'benefits' in some fashion or another over the course of a lifetime. It is far from a 'handout' if they have paid into it or will pay into it.
