Democrats say no final decision has been made on the complex strategy. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to shield lawmakers from having to vote directly on a Senate-passed health care bill because it's unpopular with House Democrats.

Instead, under her favored approach, lawmakers would approve a rule for debate that would deem the Senate bill passed once a smaller package of fixes to the larger bill has also passed.

"MAY" dodge vote ... ? They don't care HOW they 'pass' this piece of crap so long as they plant the seed that can be grown just like Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, the 'Entitlement' programs, etc etc ... 'entitlements' NEVER get repealed later ...

Louise Slaughter and Nanci Pelosi
and whats that thing called in between them?

OH YEA THE CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or should I say was the constitution. I'm affraid to think what will happen to it.

Oh and lets not forget to just change the rules to get what we want.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said at a summit for progressive reporters, pundits and bloggers today that he is going to hold Rules Committee hearings on filibuster reform to dramatically change the process.

At the gathering where other Democrats said they will highlight Republican obstruction, Schumer announced he will examine the legal way to "undo, modify or lessen the filibuster rule."

The remarks came after Democratic leaders complained the Republicans have slowed down the Senate's work and Majority Leader Harry Reid called for reform.

"You can't just rush it out, you have to study it carefully," Schumer said. The change can be done in January when the next congress is sworn in.

"This is something we are very serious about," Schumer said. He said he thinks that it can be done.

Schumer said the hearings would examine filibuster history, constitutional arguments and proposals for reform put forth by Sen. Tom Harkin and Sen. Tom Udall.

He said a "majority" of Democrats want to see a change but it isn't unanimous in the caucus.

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) chimed in that GOP "abuse of the process is forcing the majority party to consider what "would be a very big change."

This health care bill is nothing less than political armageddon.Senators say their faxes are having a meltdown from all the papers coming in from pissed off voters. They also said the phone lines have been jammed for days with the non stop calls.Obama is telling the Democrats if they don't vote for this bill he will not help them during re-election.They probably shouldn't worry about that.If they pass this bill they will probably get voted out anyways.Trying to pass this health care bill with out a vote is something Congress has never attempted in the history of the United states. This should alarm both parties as a abuse of power.

I often go to the rants and raves section in various cities around the United states at craigslist.org to see what the general public is saying about this.It is largely unfiltered and raw.I am surprised how many people are upset about this bill no matter what city I read from.

If it passes, it will be the greatest CIRCUMVERSION of the legislative processes ever for such important legislation.
