Okay....my turn to rant.....

My 17 year old daughter is living with Jon out in Idaho and has a boyfriend who lives about 20 minutes away. While Jon was at work today, a friend's mother drove her over to his house as a favor to her. Jon doesn't work far from his house so he was going to pick her up tonight after work.

Well, the boyfriend's parents decided she couldn't stay until Jon got there and instead of driving her home they made her go hang out down the road at a GAS STATION.....for OVER AN HOUR!!!!

If they didn't want her there at the house they should have driven her home or made sure she had a ride. Jon was doing his route in the mountains today so he couldn't get her until now. Thankfully she is okay and with Jon now...

oh my that's just wrong... talk about lacking compassion, common sense or good parenting skills... Sorry Eileen...

First of all, don't be sorry. This is where you should get out your frustrations. Secondly, that is so dangerous! I would be frustrated, too! I have a daughter-she's almost 14 and a 16 year old son and I'm always warning them about how scary the world is out there now. I'm glad she's okay!!!

Oh, I'd be fit to be tied ...

... No one treads on my child!!!

They sound textbook passive~aggressive ...

I can't believe that they did that!

How could they do that to a young girl and she's new to the area too.

They didn't even care about her safety.

How would they like it if somebody did that to their teenage daughter (if they had one).

Those people are so lucky I am on the other side of the country right now....I would be ripping their front door off the hinges to give them a piece of my mind.

Important thing is she is safe. The ignorance of people never ceases to amaze me. Sorry...

Jon said he has a few choice words for them too. He is such a mild guy that when he blows up, I don't want to be around to find out what he's like.

Yeah, stuff of wars ... Hard to sit tight when someone overtly puts a child in harms way!

Do they have a phone number you can get a hold of? I'd forbid her to go there again... They don't know "east coast" mad do they... lol

Did they actually know she had to wait at the gas station? If so, that's beyond rude and wrong.

Thanks...she was afraid to get on the phone with me because she thought I was going to scream at her. She wasn't the one at fault, when they told her she could come over they should have told her what time she needed to get a lift home.

No, Joy....they don't know an east coast kind of mad. lol

Totage, they told her she couldn't stay at the house and had to leave. The gas station was the only place around that had people there, otherwise she would have been standing on a street corner.

I'm wondering about the son and what kind of example they were for him.

I think he was there for part of the time but then he had to get home. She stayed inside the gas station for a little bit after that but said she felt kind of funny just walking around in there.

He doesn't seem like his parents from what I have talked to him and from what Jon says of him.

Two words come to mind when hearing about the parents behavior: cold and heartless.

Can I just ask why this was moved to "Parenting talk"? Was it just because I mentioned my daughter as part of it?

The main complaint of this rant is the moronic people who kicked a 17 year old out their house to stand around for an hour in the cold....
