I've often wondered, if I had to lose a sense but the consolation would be that one of my remaining senses would improve, what would it be? I think I would probably choose loss of sight, and my sense of hearing would improve.

Obviously people with disabilities don't get that choice, but it does make you wonder, what disability could you live with if you had one or how would you cope with it. I suppose people who do, do anyway no matter what it is, but it's interesting to think about, what your life would be like if you had one, but you don't. For example, I'm not blind, but I can't really understand what it's like to be blind, without being blind. I can imagine it, but I won't really know without having experienced it.

Blindness is considered one of the most traumatic disabilities that can occur in one's adulthood. It also has one of the top disability suicide rates attached to it. I've volunteered w/ the newly, adult blind ... They are in a devastated world of hurt and loss. To watch REALLY makes it seem unimaginably difficult. (And I've worked w/ a lot of 'disabilities' now ... ) We all get dealt the hand we got ... In the end, I've learned to loathe the saying: "What does not kill you makes you stronger!" I'm strong enough, TY very much!!! Besides, sometimes it really does kill you!

Overcoming is the key, but sometimes not everyone can, and that makes me sad to hear that.

I've got gloucoma which they say was caught early. My grandma went blind from it. I'd hate to lose my eye sight.
