Topic: My Man | |

Good one. I have always found that chicks always like being called my Old Lady. Not sure why? You can use that one for your woman OR your mother. They will both appreciate it. Why don't you try it and let us know how it works? |

Heck of a lot then calling them daddy or pappa ect
I hate to hear a man call his wife mom or refer himself as her daddy...... But my man is not bad even though I don't think I have ever used that phrase not sure it has been too long |

"My Beloved" knows that I just really like it when she refers to me as
"my man". It sounds more serious than "my boyfriend", and we are more than just lovers. We do not share a house so 'life partner' and 'significant other' aren't applicable. "Life Partner" is a term used by same sex couples around here anyway. I don't recall her every introducing me to her family as "my man" its a term just between us. I may in time refer to her as "my companion" (at least in public) which infers a lengthy period of time has passed, that we have been through more than a few adventures together. |

I personally am the opposite...I hate it when I get called "my old lady" to my husbands friends...I'm only 20 years old and would like to feel that way and I never got into the "my man" thing either it just seems odd to me, kind of like claiming ownership...idk thats just my opinion :) |

Until he becomes either my fiance or husband, I don't refer to him as "my" anything. I just introduce him by his name. I'm guessing they'll figure out he's special to me by the way we interact with each other. I guess I just don't like to label people.

I've always referred to a guy as "my friend" if I ever had cause to mention him at all. I find the term "my man" to be ghetto or at least low-class, so I don't use it. Same goes for "my boo" I really hate that one. I've only had occasion to refer to one guy as my boyfriend years ago, because the rest of them were just random hits and misses that never should have occurred at all. Otherwise, he's "my friend" or I just use his name if I feel a need to discuss him. It's easier.

I think this has been a topic in the past, but I've noticed it a lot more recently. Ladies, do you call your significant other "my man?" Men, do you enjoy when your significant other calls you "my man?" I've never referred to someone I was dating as "my man." I always thought it was strange. However, it seems as though more and more people are doing so. Why? Whatever she enjoys calling me, if I care for her, that's my name. |

Good one. I have always found that chicks always like being called my Old Lady. Not sure why? When he pulls that line out, I use my Old Geezer. Usually stops that foolishness. I've used "my lover" before. Usually its "my love" more often. Since I don't date women, "my man" is unnecessary. |

I would introduce him as my S.O.. People knew what I meant.

So, she calls you my "my man" in private, but never in public? Who is she letting know you're her man? The cat? |

Wow, when you say "my man," it kind of sounds like you are making a statement of DON'T MESS WITH HIM OR ELSE. When I am with someone I just introduce them by their name and I am sure that my friends already know about him OR he isn't really that important to me!!
I do know that if I was out with someone I was dating, I sure wouldn't want him to call me his woman...I think that sounds a bit rude. I think if you had some mouthy friends, it could cause some problems. Why do we feel that we have to have a title? As long as you both know that you are an item, its all good!! No-one owns anyone...so maybe when we are alone, I might call him Pumpkin or something!! |

By way of introduction of a guy in my life, I said " This is Gortashiuse, a very special friend of mine."
In private he would or could be puddin, honey, sunshine or big guy. I think gals that use "my guy" are trying to show ownership and controll to other women. JMO |
