I'm stumped. Why are there 18 and 19 year olds on here? Even 21?
At that age, the furthest thing from my mind would have been a dating site- if they existed then (no comments from the peanut gallery please )
Has society gotten that lazy that they want dates to come to them?
At 18 I could stay up until 5 and go to work @ 9 for days and never have to recoup, so they can't say they don't have the time. What is it?

I think at that age their just so into the world wide web..it's such a big part of their lives, so use to it from growing up with it all.

it is simply a by-product of the computer age. with games and text and tweets people have become accustom to spending inordinate amounts of time in front of small screens. that is not to say they have lost all social skills, but it has taught an entire generation to incorporate the cyber world into their lives.

Some have their own issues with others seeing them as being unwanted,,,so they come here,,others may feel a need to flunt their beauty or build their ego's bigger...
and SOME, fell life is not worth them to be here,,so they turn here where they can hide behind the net,,and talk about leaving this world.. WELL,,YOU did ask..wink,Truth..

I have asked this many times. I think the answer is the same as why so many 18 and 20 year olds are glued to video games and television sets. Getting OUT and having Good old fashioned face to face social skills is not highly encouraged anymore, in my opinion, and its easier to type than to expose personality by speaking in person or meeting people face to face. And even then, grammar and spelling are no longer strongly encouraged anymore(being replaced with text speak) , as is evident reading some of the posts on this site.

Well it's good to see that people are recognizing this and starting programs to get kids moving. I was a shy kid but still would walk miles to anf from a friends house. The only kids you see playing outside are the lower income ones, their parents can't afford all the toys. Healthy kids too.

I'm betting that not all of those "18 year olds" are actually 18 year olds. There's a LOT of sick people on the net

I don't know if that a factor as far as being fat, maybe for some, I don't know. My boys play a lot of games, their not in sports and their not fat. I know that when I would pick the boys up from school or something I was blown away by how many of the kids are really over weight. It's sad.. when I was in school it seemed like there was always just that one fat kid, the one everybody picked one (poor kid) now it's like half of them. Gotta be more to it than just the web and the games.

Yes, reasons start with portion size, with has tripled in the last 30 years. All the fats and fillers in food. I bought some plump chicken breasts to broil. When they were done, they were 1/2 the size! Meanwhile, everything has excessive salt and sugars. Health food, real food is so expensive. I've been on line and see what people buy with food stamps, or just period. No one knows how to shop or eat properly. With everyone working, it's all processed food to pop in the microwave. Ever read the back of those things if they're not lean cuisine? and even those are supposed to be healthy. Well by other meals they are. Just going back to basics and really cooking makes quite a difference in diet. People don't buy fresh fruit and vegetables, but the cookie lane is both sides.

The same can be said about older people as well. Society doesn't have an age.

Personally, I don't go out, I don't like to go out. It has nothing to do with being lazy, but moreso a convenience, an option that far outweighs that of the local pub or arcade. That and the fact that I didn't start here looking for a date, I started here for friends, funny, how some of you forget that option...

That can be said about anyone, not just the younger crowd.

I think people tend to use the excuse that just because they're older, they have to resort to using a dating site and that's it. This should never be the only way you meet people. I don't care what your age is.. go out and meet people in person as well. Get out and do things. Use a site like this as another way of meeting people, not the only way.

it's the really young ones who are allowed to vegatate for hours on video games that I worry about. You can see the social skill level goes way down for these kids. ESP when the parents let them do it. My kids were not allowed a system They spent a lot of time outdoors cwith people and school and sports!

I just saw one. A 19 year old mom of two kids just getting out of a four year abusive relationship. That would mean she started her adult life at fifteen.

When I friest joined this site over 3 years ago. There wasn't that many teens on this site at all, but there was a few young adults. Now there are a lot.

I think a lot of it has to do with the parents on how they do not spend time with them. My personal thought is at that age. You shouldn't be worried about falling in love. Nothing wrong in dateing, but when you see a teen spending there time on a dating site and posting how they can't find their tru love. To me that's a problem and knowing you can get cought up on the net. Their life ends up becoming this. We all do it, Think about it. How offten are we on this forum and chating with people? A teen should be out enjoing life and spending time with there friends. Not on here wasting there days hoping what they believe that will find there perfect match.



Had to add. What makes it worse for me to see this. I'm going on 40 and getting emails from teens trying to flirt with me. I'm not playing dady

perhaps they are curious...
perhaps they embrace technology faster than you assume they do...
perhaps it is becuase the increased advertising on TV for dating sites...
perhaps they think it is fun...
perhaps they are bored...

predicting teen behavior is more difficult than prediciting a woman's behavior....
