I wasn't sure if this one was done but I thought it would be nice to
have a support group for parents whose children have health issues,
therapy, and / or special needs.

is my sweet little terror!

my oldest is 9 and he is adhd, partially deaf, ocd, and epileptic.
makes life interesting to say the least. glad there are others here
with special needs children, it's comforting having others to talk to
who understand.

I am glad there is interest for this group! So we can share the ups and
downs and know that we are there for each other. My son was born almost
3 months early. He was hospitalized for 2 1/2 months needing blood
transfusions & oxygen. But is now home. He has glasses, has asthma,
retinopathy of prematurity, and hydrocephylis (water on the brain), and
has had a grade II brain hemmorage. He is seen by a physical therapist,
occupational therapist, speech pathologist, socialist, behaviorist,
neurosurgeon, and other doctors on a weekly to monthly basis. Which
keeps us quite busy.

Glad to see you guys here & I am here whenever you need to talk!

Barbie

You need to take a break. There are places that you can go to help with
getting someone to watch your child while you take some much needed time
to yourself. Some states will even pay for the care.

The Place to contact for that here is called RRC. Not sure where you are
but there is some place to go.

What a great topic!! I have 2 boys but now they are older and I am
learning how to deal with it..18 and 12 now!! Both of my kids had ADHD
but my oldest one grew out of being hyper and only has ADD. So now I
have one with ADD and one with ADHD..plus they still don't sleep all
night long!!
To say the least, our house is a very interesting house at night, I have
insomnia so I guess thats helpful when they are up and down laugh

Twlight-How did the appt go?

My boy has his therapy tomorrow. Sigh, what went wrong that my 6 year
old is seeing a counselor? No, I'm not blaming myself, but it is really
hard not to. Especially since his father is now convinced it is all
hereditary from me. I did not even have anxiety issues before I met
him.

Okay enough of that.

Everybody, play with me! Share one experience that makes you know G-d
gave you your child(ren).

D must have been about 3. We were walking in my Mom's apartment
complex. And he said to people that were walking nearby, "Hi, I Dawson.
This is my friend, Mom."

That's my boy. Always the life of the party and always wanting everyone
to play!

I have two special needs boys: My 11-yr-old has Asperger's syndrome and
my 15-yr-old has PDD/NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder/Not Otherwise
Specified). Both of these are autism spectrum disorders, or in layman's
terms - high functioning autism. They also have other associated
problems, for instance my 11-yr-old also has severe ADHD and my
15-yr-old also is borderline bipolar.

I love my children with all my heart and would not trade either one of
them for a "normal child" any day! They are so special and so precious
just the way they are...they are my life and my joy! Everything that I
have been through with them has been so worth it...all the hardships,
the misunderstandings, the fighting with society concerning them, the
emotional struggles...have been so worth every single minute. These are
my babies and I love them!

I had to reschedule my sons appt. I had an appointment earlier with the
orthopediac surgeon to look at my wrist and he was running behind. I got
a new cast though and it is MUCH more comfortable. My sons new appt is
on monday.
