WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

The news media calls it "ENHANCED INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES."

GEE I wonder why they don't just call it what the hell it is.

TORTURE.

Dick Cheney is a dick. And if Mingle sensors the word dick I will spell it out for you D.I.C.K. That's his name for crap sake.

No damn wonder people HATE AMERICA. I am outraged by the idiots we have elected to govern us.

Cheney Defends Torture: It ‘Would Have Been Unethical Or Immoral’ For Us Not To Torture..

Oh I'm sure he calls it "ENHANCED INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES"
And of course he uses 9-11 as his excuse. What a load of crap. I think I know who was responsible for 9-11 and any idiot could see with their own eyes that those buildings came down in a controlled demolition. They were taken down by explosives. No plane could have done that!!! Wake up people!

Yup, he's been on the "save our legacy and avoid prosecution" tour for a while now. These criminals that resided in the WH are pretty nervous about charges to come...hope Chainy doens't croak before we get him on the stand...the lowlife prick.

It's a shame they tortured and tarnished the US's reputations around the world...it only served as a recruiting tool for Muslim extremists...

Do you really believe it torture for information has stopped just because Hussein is in office?

10 to 1, it hasn't. Just gone a bit more underground.

"If, as the article reports, the Bush administration, due to rampant internal debate, had stopped waterboarding and walling and all the other repellent practices by 2005, what is Dick Cheney doing in 2009 saying that the Obama administration's rejection of those practices is making us less safe?

Of course, Cheney's resort to old-style Republican "the Democrats hate America" rhetoric is amusingly disturbing in any case. But if he's re-fighting an internal argument he lost four years ago, what's the point?"

Harry Shearer

Great article here:

If Torture Works, Why Did We Stop Doing It In 2005?

Surprisingly, I find the issue complex and difficult, I wouldnt want to be in the shoes of the policy makers. I dont approve of death penalty but I dont quite know which things fall under the title of 'torture' either. I would be opposed to those things which have a high probability of causing death, but I also understand the need for fear when trying to get information that is well guarded.....

If memory serves me, Hussein is the one who doesn't want all the torture info released and he has been protecting Bush and Cheney from investigation.

Bush Torture Memos Released By Obama: See The Complete Documents

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/16/bush-torture-memos-releas_n_187867.html

"As part of an ongoing court case, the Department of Justice released on Thursday memos issued by the Office of Legal Counsel between 2002 and 2005, detailing techniques used for interrogation of terrorism suspects. In doing so, President Obama declared:

"While I believe strongly in transparency and accountability, I also believe that in a dangerous world, the United States must sometimes carry out intelligence operations and protect information that is classified for purposes of national security. I have already fought for that principle in court and will do so again in the future.

However, after consulting with the Attorney General, the Director of National Intelligence, and others, I believe that exceptional circumstances surround these memos and require their release."

Certain aspects of the documents are redacted -- including the names of CIA officials -- but the evidence is of enough weight that Senate Judiciary chairman Patrick Leahy already felt compelled to offer the following statement:

These legal memoranda demonstrate in alarming detail exactly what the Bush administration authorized for "high value detainees" in U.S. custody. The techniques are chilling... We cannot continue to look the other way; we need to understand how these policies were formed if we are to ensure that this can never happen again. This is why my proposal for a Commission of Inquiry is necessary."

from politifact.com

On Jan. 22, 2009, President Obama signed a detailed executive order on torture and extreme rendition.

The order said that prisoners "shall in all circumstances be treated humanely and shall not be subjected to violence to life and person (including murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment, and torture), nor to outrages upon personal dignity (including humiliating and degrading treatment)." It also specifically nullifies interpretations of federal law on interrogations "issued by the Department of Justice between September 11, 2001, and January 20, 2009."

one step at a time folks,,,

Incoming: More Torture Documents

Despite the Obama administration's best attempts to block the release of key documents and photographs -- and otherwise stymie investigations into the Bush torture legacy -- it looks like some more significant disclosures are coming down the pike.

Scott Shane writes in the New York Times that

Mr. Obama cannot control the courts, and lawsuits are turning out to be the force driving disclosures about brutal interrogations....

from nytimes.com

He has proved wary, however, of bogging down his broader agenda in divisive disputes about torture, and he has successfully pressed most Congressional Democrats to oppose calls for a national commission on the Bush administration’s interrogation and surveillance programs. The Senate Intelligence Committee is reviewing the interrogation program, but behind closed doors.

Last month, Mr. Obama reversed plans to release hundreds of photographs showing abuse of prisoners, saying the pictures would add little to public knowledge and could endanger American troops. The C.I.A. has also declined to release to former Vice President Dick Cheney two memorandums that Mr. Cheney asserts show the effectiveness of harsh interrogations

potato, po ta to,,,avoiding division is not the same motive as protecting Bush...but interpretation is up to the reader

That was an opinion of the writer not the reality with the release of the documents that should be enough to initiate a complete investigation of your president's and other's crimes against humanity..

I was not laughed off...I didn't leave I just post in friends only, I stay away from the forums because Dustin is a Nazi F-wad who allows ignorant rednecks free will to insult people. I got tired f the rampant racisms mostly...

I suppose you know the future and all of the consequences that may or may not come to pass regarding every evil action taken by every person or country in the world?

Don't justify evil. For evil to exist only requires that good men do nothing. You are making excuses for them, trying to justify them. I am really appalled by this kind of thinking. It is un-American.

It is like the Salem witch trials where they tortured women to confess that they were witches. How many innocents were tortured and killed? Its just wrong.... period.

People have RIGHTS. HUMAN RIGHTS. Just because we are made to believe that our enemy is evil.... that does not justify that we can practice evil too.

People should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. People should have a right to a lawyer and a trial by jury. NOT taken off to some prison outside of the jurisdiction of the United States with no rights and no lawyer. THAT'S JUST LIKE HITLER DID. That is a dictatorship.

Don't let this happen to your country. Wake up people!

Don't support or defend this kind of government. It will eventually get back to you, when someone decides to call you a "terrorist" just because they can.
