I’m trapped in a dream that I can’t seem
To wake from no matter how hard I try to
Move I’m stuck in this same spot rooted
In this empty room that only seconds ago
Was filled with all my treasures that I
Held dear close to my heart worth more
Than anything I ever lost before

My eyes are cloudy I’m slipping but I can
Still hear the voices screaming inside
My head and off the walls until I want to
Explode but I know I can’t until it’s over
It’s over there where I want to be but my legs
Are numb and useless and my hands are tied
With ropes made of rage and confusion and
Somebody’s laughter not mine I’ll never laugh again

I’m wrapped in fire and weighed by pride even
Though I’ll never win because I gave it all away
To die as I’ve always lived in this bare space
Alone where sometimes I still see shadows of what
Could have been and still might be with someone
Else if you get your wish

I catch my breath and feel the coldness seeping in
Release from all this horror that I have created I
Can finally sleep undisturbed and peaceful without
The screams and tears that terrify me into submission
Before the calm that really isn’t it’s just the beginning
Of the flames that finally consume me a mixture of hot
And cold anger and sadness love and loss in the end
All that’s left is a shadow made of ashes of my former
Self and that is how I know I am awake.
