How could they hit those notes. They are older than we are?....laugh

Well...here's a hint....

I saw Tesla a last September, and the lead singer doesn't have the ability he used to have to hit the higher notes.

So when it came time for them to do Edison's Medicine ( which is one that he was on the HIGH end all the way through ) they just tuned down so that he could do it.

It doesn't take much.

Too bad the ego of " I can still do everything I did when I was twenty " gets in the way.

True. But that is a pretty big stage my friend. I would imagine there wasn't as many folks at the Tesla concert....laugh

Probably not...but that is completely beside the point.

Not to mention, I would figure that, the Super Bowl BEING such a big stage, they would want to sound as good as they possibly can rather than just rest on their name.

Let's say they had tuned down a little on Who Are You so that old whatsisface could actually hit the notes.

Would it have taken ANYTHING away from the song itself??? Would it have diminished the performance at all??

I wouldn't take anything away from them about the fact that they can still perform.

But their sound man has nothing to do with Townshend tuning down just a bit to get back into Daltry's range. Or Daltry asking Townshend to tune down because he knows he can no longer get where he used to be able to.

Either one of them could have done that and the sound man would have simply adjusted.

Now...one thing I will say is that television is a VERY difficult medium to do sound for. It's almost impossible to get the correct balance so very few bands actually sound good on tv.

Damn...did I miss it? I could't drag myself away from Kevin Costner and Dances With Wolves.

How's Roger looking these days..he was a hottie way back when, for a blond anyway.
Roger looked awful and I thought they were lousy. Not anything like the good old days--they have lost their voices!!

It was sparkly and flashy.

I couldn't do it man......I made it to where I saw the countdown clock at 12:37 and thought........I can't do this.......kind of like watching a 60 year old stripper who was the bomb when she was 20.

So, I went and cranked up my Nexus playlist and jammed the f**k out to Zeromancer's "Need you like a drug" and played Lovechess. (bad @ss free download of Chess with Greek and Trojan Gods/goddess's....they screw when you take a piece)

What will you be doing when you are 65? I just thought it was cool. They didn't have a bunch of children running around with scarfs and chit....laugh

But did they have the obligatory " stage rush to get the best spot " by a bunch of middle teens who had absolutely no idea who The Who were??

Nothing quite as ludicrous as watching a bunch of 15-20 year olds " jamming " to a band they have never heard of.

I last saw them here in 2007, they did an amazing show...sure Roger's voice isn't what it used to be but they are still incredible...Pete plays a mean axe. Ringo's son was a great addition to the band.

I saw Bob Dylan last year he sounded like a frog (well he was never that great) but I didn't care...as log as they're still rocking I am still rolling.

Oh, I congratulate them bro. I am sure I will still be slinging my d**k around when I am using a walker. I guess it didn't help that I had just watched a documentary on "Tommy" and had spent a few hours watching them in thier prime.....come to think of it....tonight was the first time I had ever seen Roger Daltry with his shirt on.

All things considered....I still would have rather seen janet jackson's tit again.
