Topic: --- I just got promoted! --- | |
---|---|
The company I've been working for for a year or so has been growing like crazy recently. New location and now a bunch of new employees. The owner was doing the management tasks but now doesn't have the time since it's gotten so busy so today he made me manager.
As far as pay goes, I don't think I'll be getting a raise but now I get to use a company car for business & personal use, basically it's mine. The pay's pretty good anyway. I've already been bossing the new guys around anyway but now it's official. |

Thanks everybody!
It'll be a bit different for me to have to step back from doing the work to delegating others to do it. I'm well respected in my workplace & everyone there already considered me the boss so I won't have any issues with the employees. I'm just hoping I'll like it in the long run |

Excellent! Remember a good manager always jumps in alongside when things get tough; you'll get a lot of respect when you respect the people who work under you.

I'm just hoping I'll like it in the long run If you are already respected because off the work you do....why would you stop doing it?? Get in there with everyone else and get your hands dirty. Otherwise, you may find yourself losing the respect you have gained. People will start whispering about you " not doing the work because you are a manager now so you don't think you have to ". You can be in charge, and still get in there with everyone else. Maybe not at the level you did before, but if you are still willing to do it, the people working for you will be more willing to WORK for you. |

I'll still be "getting my hands dirty" and doing the work, just not quite as much since I'll be in charge of making sure things get done. I'll be delegating all the easy stuff to the new guys and end up doing all the difficult stuff myself. |
