In 1929 that was a ton of money. They are trying to get the guy to come in and buy a new Model A. I figured it to be a sales pitch, but...if by chance they can't make a sale, they have the "plan B" in place...by offering to fix/rebuild the one they have. |

But it sure would be nice to have a guy even look at my car for 25 bucks much less overhaul the entire engine and trans.

Not much changed since the model T really.
It might go faster, stops better, has heating and air conditioning, but so did the price increase. Nowadays it's not an oily mechanic guy you need to fix it but a computer technician. It's the companies who doesn't want you to touch your vehicle..."God forbid" you might be able to fix it without dropping 700 dollars to the dealer...not even your local mechanic, because the computerized gizmos and chips , your local mechanic is lost without a factory provided diagnosis computer. And yet...you are still pushing a pedal and turning a wheel , traveling farther to get to your job frustrating yourself for hours back and forth. What's the difference then? You might be able to travel faster, but so did your job moved farther. You might make more money, but you also pay more for taxes and everyday needs. Think about it..it all this make everyone happier? I don't think so..I bet you, there are far more depressed and unhappy people today than a 100 years ago. |

You could of had it completly overhauled for such a small price! ![]() |

It is interesting, and if nothing else quite unique to have that...I just couldn't help but notice how much time was used to list out all the "labor" charges! Seems like nothing has changed! Going to pick up my back brake shoes at Auto Zone for about 22.00 but unless I go out to my Dad's ...I don't have all the tools in my car ...and do these myself....I will end up paying 65.00 to 100.00 labor for someone to do it for me.

Appreciate the advise :) I haven't done more than add oil, change a tire in a long time...but recently took the Ford's Engineering exam online...made a 78% ..my son is the one who told me about it...he'a a diesel/tank mechanic Army....besides the add ons of special ops etc...anyway...he knew that i grew up working on cars and still know a lot of the how to's ....if nothing else it was fun to take.
