I agree , or someone that says religion is THEE cause for war and division and chaos. Such BROAD generalizations can rarely be considerd too seriously.

Yes, Americans would much rather pay taxes that go to ABSOLUTELY nothing , but politicians special interests.

You really want to know what Americans would prefer???
They would prefer that government stop dipping deeper and deeper into their pockets.

They would prefer that the government let them KEEP more of their own money and allow THEM to decide where best to spend it.

So easy to say from people who have no concept of the situation nor can suppport or promote any alternatives to the recovery process (the GOP started)...the GOP have no plans...they only have JUST SAY NO and that's only a political strategy. What would Mccain be doing if he'd won...same GD thing.

You people make me laugh...

" No concept of the situation "....

I have enough concept of the situation to know that the current, and previous governments, did NOT use the money they took from us to do what is best for the country as a whole.

THAT is the only " concept " that really matters.

If you don't think you could find better ways to spend your money, then go ahead and keep following the herd.

I am not referring to them doing away with taxes completely.

All one can do is vote on how their money is spent, I vote on it going back into things that are going to help me and mine(and others). I vote to have affordable healthcare and quality education, whether it is done by cutting some of the unnecessary spending on other things, or some of the politicans incomes, or by adding taxes,,,

although I prefer it to be done one of the two former ways

Problem is , everyone that pays taxes, has different priorities about where they would PREFER that tax goes,,

i dont feel we have a need or that it is helpful to have such a HUGE gap between the haves and have nots in this country, but few on the top would vote to get less and usually vote for those on the bottom to get less instead. Many on the bottom are also guilty of wanting those on top to give more and not being willing to give more themself. We have to work together, it is consistently my wish and what I vote for. Unfortunately, the rich and powerful just continue to protect their wealth and power and say be damned to the rest of us.

We ALL know that is NEVER going to happen. So what are the alternatives??

, or by adding taxes,,,

I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of the government taking more and more and me getting less and less from it. I don't make a whole lot of money as it is.

Don't you think it's even slightly screwed up that we have to work for a full 1/4 of the year JUST to pay taxes?? That is how long it takes until you are working for YOUR life.

Problem is , everyone that pays taxes, has different priorities about where they would PREFER that tax goes,,

I would PREFER that they get their heads out of their *****. Stop spending money that they don't actually HAVE and stop wasting money.

i dont feel we have a need or that it is helpful to have such a HUGE gap between the haves and have nots in this country, but few on the top would vote to get less and usually vote for those on the bottom to get less instead.

But how, pray tell, does placing a higher tax burden on those " have nots " make up for the difference?? How does taking even more of what little a person has in the first place, close that gap??

Many on the bottom are also guilty of wanting those on top to give more and not being willing to give more themself. We have to work together, it is consistently my wish and what I vote for. Unfortunately, the rich and powerful just continue to protect their wealth and power and say be damned to the rest of us.

And yet...those " have nots " are MORE than willing to take from those more fortunate so that they can get handouts from the government. They are just as bad as the rich.

They want what the rich have, without going through the effort to GET it on their own. And those who ARE going through the effort, and making it a reality, are going to be punished for it in the form of higher taxes.

Where, exactly, would the incentive be for ANYONE to succeed?? Why bother working for anything when the government will just GIVE it to you?

THAT is exactly what I said. Everyone wants SOMEONE else to be the solution and noone wants to do anything or have to sacrifice anything themself(that goes for rich and poor). When we get rid of THAT attitude and think of the wellbeing of ALL,, we will be better off.

But that " attitude " is exactly what you voted for in the last election.

We can't CHANGE it if people keep voting FOR it.

Who are the Democrats if not the " Tax the rich and GIVE to those ' less fortunate ' "??

They WANT people to have to rely on the government for their every day needs.

I don't consider the Republicans any better in most of their ideals.

I voted for the better of the two candidates, the one that seemed to be most in touch with the EVERY man and not just the rich and powerful man, the one who seems to have a genuine interest in ALL. I also voted against a candidate that seemed less than healthy and then CHOSE a running mate who seemed less than knowledgable about the post. To be honest, the idea of 'what happens if McCain gets ill?" was VERY pressing in my mind. I didnt have that concern about OBama nor his running mates ability to step in.

No one person, including a President, can change the attutides of a whole country of people and no one person can make it better,,,it takes ALL of us.

Just because Obama was " healthier " didn't mean he was the better candidate.

Do you seriously think that if something were to happen to Obama, that Joe Biden would be any better than Palin would have been??

That idea is almost laughable. Neither of them would be a good choice to have move up.
