Cuddling under a blanket with that special someone, in front of a roaring fire, sipping glasses of wine and gazing into each other's eyes, whilst a romantic movie plays on the big screen tv.......

Oh wait, that's what makes me vomit. To answer the question, it's stalking that makes me happiest. Definitely.

Stalking is for novices, spying and countersurveillance is where it's at.

Horse back riding.

Or wandering in and amongst the animals. My steer calves had me laughing today, the goats too. The weather had them all frisky and bouncy.

Have you hugges your steers today?!

I love horseback and equine sports. I believe there is a special bond between human and horse, I think God intended it that way. I feel a great happiness when I ride, and when I trust the horse and he/she trusts me.

I agree, minus the God part. :-)

I feel for those who juggle and sell horses so fast they never learn from the horse, or can't trust the horse, and vice-versa, because they never get the time.

I've had Chance for 16 yrs now, and trust him with my life. Literally. The previous two horses were part of the family for 10 yrs and 20 years. Both passed of age.

Golf and cooking.

When I am doing either one of those things, I am completely at peace with myself.

Although...hearing me curse about a bad shot wouldn't necessarily indicate peacefulness. lol

Equus, I grew up in rural Michigan, I've rode horses all of my life, I know what they think, I know what they feel, kind of like how I've become with cats. I understand them, I feel them, I love them. I rode horses at my Aunt's ranch in Corvalis, MT. I'm a natural, but I happen to live in big city, Denver now. Thing is, I'm not a city slicker or a country boy, I'm both and neither. I love horses, cats, animals, and people. I guess I love life. I guess I have a knack for understanding the true nature of the animal.

JustaGuy, I really want to get into golf, but I don't seem to have the patience for it. I have this anger problem when I miss the tee-off and the accuracy of the drive or chip shot. No matter what I do, emotion gets the best of me, and Golf demands a certain perfection and emotional control. I just can't do it.

If you read, have you read Linda Kohanov's The Tao of Equus and her other books? Beautifully written about the communication and interaction with these lovely beings.

I am in tune better with animals, not just horses, then with people. I have to say, I'm even a bit irked with my dad lately because he's been acting like a twit with regards to the steer calves. He did the whole dairy farm thing up in MI and now he acts like they're out to get them. Sheesh.

Sure you can.

When I first started playing, I couldn't hit a shot off the tee well to save my life. I played that way for 4 years. My normal score was around 160 or so for 18 holes.

But, 3 years ago, I had a friend show me something that I was doing wrong.

The best part about golf is that it's all you. You against the course. You against yourself. At this point, you have something not quite right in your swing and it's frustrating you. It may be something as simple as swinging too hard.

Go get yourself a couple of lessons. That's all it will take. Then, once you do that, you learn the emotional control. It's a GREAT game in that it helps you learn to get control of yourself before the next shot.

Example : One of my golfing friends saw me " top " a 3 wood shot from the fairway. The ball went about 25 yards. I cursed and berated myself the entire time I was walking up to address the ball for the next shot. Same club. I hit that next shot VERY well. He looked at me and said he was really impressed that I was able to get the bad shot out of my mind and hit the next one cleanly.

If you want...email me and we can talk a bit of golf. Maybe I can help a bit.

Ya know....that gives me a REALLY good idea though.

My friend Mike had a low score of 94 last season.

I am gonna challenge him for this season. If I can beat his lowest score from last season ( my usual average is 104-110 ) then he has to play a round wearing a kilt....lmfao

Seriously, I have no problem wearing a kilt, a skirt, really loud pants, whatever. But golf seems to me a perfectionist sport, and although I love the spirit of the game, I think it would be more fun if both players were spitting drunk before they teed off.laugh

I know a lot of people like that.

I don't drink, though.

The thing is....it has the perception of being a " perfectionists " sport...but it really isn't.

Even Tiger Woods has said that golf is a game of " Do what works for YOU ".

Even if your swing isn't technically perfect, as long as you can get the ball to go where you want it to, that's all that matters.

My swing would make a professional swing coach cringe. But...I hit the ball straight most of the time....so it works for me.

Would like to read that. I feel the same way..am happier, comfortable and more in tune with animals and nature first then people.

Also am very content when have the time to get a good nap in, feeling it's well earned. Talking to my brothers and others long distance is up there, and putting the radio on Sunday afternoon and dancing alone makes me pretty happy if it's a old favorite.
