I am a homebody. Why do people get angry at me for that? I prefer solitude over socializing? Why is that bad?

I'm the same way...don't know why anyone would get angry over it, I've never had that issue. Could be a misunderstanding?

Yes, I am often misunderstood.

I know, I'm just being a smart azz.

No, it's not a misunderstanding. My friends and co-workers actually get mad at me for not wanting to participate in social activities with them. They know it's not a rejection of them, they know I just don't like these things and prefer to keep to myself. And, yet they get annoyed (mad or angry is probably too strong of a word) when I don't participate.

Well, as long as they know it isn't a rejection of them personally...I wouldn't worry much. They're probably just annoyed that they are trying to get you out and you don't want to go, people get annoyed when you don't try and fit in for some reason...not sure why.

That's the answer right there. Thanks.

I need to get to bed so I can get up early for the second day of my residency here in Vermont. Soooo sleepy, I've been up since 5 am, rushing non stop, meeting with amazing people. Totally worth it though, finally around classy, educated people. Others are working on their second master's degree too, so it's a nice group, so grand to be around my peers.....

And I got the job I applied for, I got the call as I was walking across campus to a seminar, a very happy surprise.

The black of the dark absorbs the truth of the light....

most exist in shades of grey.

I know...

It's just that grey matter seems to be all that matters these days.

Matter is overrated ... I go for the mists of illumination ...

... And those days ...

Yes it does, really good look into Hunter Thompson. A few other good movies: When I Die, Come On Down: Searching For The American Dream, and Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride.

When I Die is about his funeral arrangements (par Hunter's request, his ashes were shot out of a cannon fashioned to look like a Gonzo fist) which was all paid for and set in motion by Johnny Depp.

Come On Down: Searching For The American Dream is an interview with director Adamm Liley over drinks at Woody Creek Tavern, very insightful film that looks into the mind of an otherwise brilliant man.

Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride is a documentary that looks at all of Hunter's family and friends, but also look at how through his life he came in contact with big named stars and celebrities throughout his career.

I have to admit that Hunter's last book Kingdom Of Fear was quite a disappointment to me. It was kinda' a re-hash of everything he's already written about. Seemed kinda' un-inspired. It was the only thing of his I read that left me cold...

I don't know if he had the same inspiration he had with all of his other books, I mean times have changed a lot about writing...it is difficult at best to be inspired by it anymore. It isn't like it was in the 70's, 80's, and even the 90's, people don't buy into journalism and it isn't as important as it once was.

I think he knew he wasn't going to be around much longer, and two years later he took his life...on my birthday, no less.
