all the luck of the irish with you red

I can relate

I felt the same way when I found out that my kidneys had quit working and by all rights I should die. but the dialysis keeps me going. Its scary but you can't stay scared all the time. eventually you get over the scared part and then you get to the pizzed off part and you fight

but melanoma is the most treatable of cancers and odds are you'll be fine

I am trying to be strong, I really am. I know it can be treated but I really do not wanna go through chemo. I just don't have time for it right now.

Sweets, the best medicine that you can give yourself right now is to stay positive. We are all here to try to support you the best that we can. Like wolfchic said, you don't have an option to not, do whatever needs to be done for your health! Trust me, I know it's hard to want to hold on to whatever you have going on in your life at the moment, however, you have to step back and realize that it's important to get your health in order!

I would suggest talking with advisors or counselors at the school to determine what are your options with maintaining or delaying classes while you go through treatment.

Take time for yourself... self-care will be especially important at this point!

I know it's hard to concentrate on school work when you have some much going on! For me, it's been one thing after another in my life to take me off track and divert my focus.

Just know that you are doing everything that you can do at the moment. Weigh all your options carefully, ask questions and get as much information as possible, and know that this is only one point in your life. Do what you need to do to get healthy!

Are you talking with your family about all this? Are they providing any support for you emotionally?

I didnt have time for kidney failure and dialysis either

I have plenty of time to die, I just prefer to not do it today

just take it one day at a time and focus on beating it so that you do have a future to attend to

I am going to talk to my teachers today an see what they say. If it comes down to doing chemo and which type of treatment, I might still be able to stay in school. I just don't want my parents money to be thrown out the window if the school will not let me just come back next year after all this.

I have been studying most of the day to keep my mind off things, it kinda worked. been fighting tears back for a while. Thank you everyone for your kind words an thoughts. Means so much to me, helps me stay strong and keep fighting. smooched

 Sending my love!! My thoughts and prayers are with you! I also had a cancer scare a few years ago. I was very lucky and it turned out to be benign, but the fear and anxiety that go along with such a discovery can be down right terrifying. Stay strong and take solace in all the support you have from family and friends. It really does help! You are young and strong and will overcome this! God Bless!!!

Also in my thoughts and prayers. But you should check on the diagnosis. According to the Wikipedia, a Spitz nevus is a benign tumor!

Wishing you only the best in your recovery!

shocked

Note that the rare recurrences may mimic metastatic malignant melanoma.

http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1059623-overview

The Spitz nevus (also known as "spindle cell nevus") is a benign, acquired mole derived from melanocytes (pigment cells). In the past, this condition was a cause for concern because it often was confused with melanoma. Today, Spitz nevi are believed to be benign and are managed more conservatively. This type of nevus generally occurs in children and adolescents, most often on the face and head.

They're probably leaning on the side of caution. flowerforyou
