I am currently pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Physics at the University Of Arizona (GO CATS!!!)
Iv always had a vivid imagination, and a fair understanding of how the brain operates on a neurological scale, ect...
I can "see" things, objects without much trouble, I can combine certain senses and come up with a lemmon IE, feel the lemmon, smell the lemmon, see the lemmon lol.
But numbers are kicking my A@@!
I know numbers are hard to remember because they are difficult to associate anything with, versus.. a lemon, So I can understand why I have issues holding the number 345 in my head (clearly, like it was written down) for longer than a few seconds, but I was woundering If anyone else had any other techniques or ideas?

I can do good size numbers in my head like 92*189, I can do them in less than 5 seconds, but I cant see them, I have to calculate them, and it becomes difficult to calculate anything above 1000, because I dont remember the freakin number! lol. Wow, long sentence, you can thank redbull.

Heres the technique im using now. I write the number down on a piece of paper, stare at it for a while, close my eyes and try and see it. At first I could only see part of it, than eventualy I could vaugly see the whole thing for few seconds, but only a few. Imagining the number a bright color helps alittle to.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Most people cannot internally visualize more than six objects at a time. That's why dice only go up to six.

I thought all that higher math was remembering the formulas? Why the need to remember the individual numbers?

Because other wise I am screwed. I can barely remember my phone number and address.

Great question.
Any mathematics in one way or the other uses numbers or symbols that represent numbers. If you have a solid foundation of arythmatic, you can do any math, its just a matter of memorizing how to put those numbers together and what to do with them. Math can only go four ways, Addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
So to answer your question, I dont need to, but it keeps my brain sharp. Calculators are a great tool, but they are only a tool, I use them to check my work, other than that, I either write it or do it in my head. But math and science are my future career, otherwise...id use a freakin calculator lol

I know it probably sounds crazy, but I love numerology, that in itself I think has helped me with my math and also keeps me occupied, sometimes I feel like Jim Carrey in The Number 23, but with all numbers, lol

You have to break the information into chunks, the human brain is much better at remembering that way.

Ok, so how would you go about 'seeing' 1?
Its funny I actully tried that, I started with the bottom dash, added the slash and than the forward slash, but I can still only see those idividual parts, not the whole thing

yes, it's crazy, but it's also very exciting when it's understandable.

I got into numerology with Dan Millman's book, How To Live The Life You Were Born To Live. And I also get newsletters from numerologist.com for free.

You know, I used to hate it. I though I could never do it, I faild geometry in high school, I just couldnt understand it. Now it consumes my life. part of it was because Of the way they teach modern math, the other part was I just didnt try hard enough.
You can do anything you set your mind to, I truly believe that

both.
I understand the values of numbers, but it is also interesting to see the persona of numbers.
I'm not just talking birthdates, but also names, 9 year cycles, there are so many things to calculate it's ridiculous! But I find it very amusing!!
One thing that became very fun was to see, actually see the difference in relationships from one person to the next, because we all interact differently, some people get along great and others not so much. It's not just like a horoscope where it's just determined that you're either compatible or not, with numbers it's HOW you're compatible and every relationship is different from one to the next, ex: my relationship with my dad is not the same as my relationship with my mom or my brother's to them or to me.

You should watch the movie "Pi", if you haven't already.
