It is an interesting article, it should be an interesting debate. I am sure, being a constitutional lawyer himself, OBama is very aware of the constitution and probably surrounded by many others who are as well. The Commerce clause, to me, sounds like it could very well be grounds for the mandate,,considering the cost passed down to others due to the uninsured who get ill. I guess we could only mandate it for those already in the HEALTH system(the sick) but that would seem like it was after the fact and not a very realistic approach.
In any case, I am hoping for the mandate to pass as well as the public option...I know too many people with insurance horror stories and Will be glad for some intervention and leveling to finally take place. We spend so much of our taxes on dying(war) but so little on living(health). I think it is a sad statement about our cultural priorities,,,but that is just me. |
