Do you like to explore new places, or go to places you've enjoyed in the past?

Will you travel on your own, or do you want to have someone with you?

Do you check out touristy spots, or do you prefer to check out lesser known spots?

Do you like to explore other countries and cultures, or prefer to stick to your own country?

When I travel, I like to go to places I haven't been before. I also like the off the beaten path, mom and pop places that the natives and locals visit. They always have better food.

I've never really traveled alone.

I'm starting to think I should venture out more on my own more often, if I really want to see places I've never been.

I have friends from all over the world through different internet groups. We get together once a year. They are talking about going to Vegas this year, but I hate Vegas and won't be joining them. If I am going to get on a plane for over 5 hours, I'm going to Europe.

Yeah, I do know a couple people who have traveled a lot through groups online. I may have to look into that.

I did make it to India last year for work. Interesting trip. I was with coworkers for part of the time and on my own part of the time.

I've been to many states, but I really want to get out of the US more.

Hi singme, Yes I travel, not as much as I used to but I do when I have the opp. I like to explore both new and old places, been to or never been. I prefer to have someone with me, with a catch though. I had a girlfriend once that I took to Vegas, and again to San Francisco, after SF, I never took her anywhere with me again, because of the way she behaved on the trip, after that, I went solo on vacations or with a family member. So the catch, is, she has got to behave and learn to enjoy the trip. I check out both tourist places as long as they're not too crowded, and I check out places most tourists don't go. Foreign country, I would love to do an Asia tour where I visit Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, and Thailand. Got to save a lot of dough up for that though. Here in the states, I would love to visit NYC sometime, I've never been there, and I'm the only one in my family that has never been there, and we lived in NY State for 7 years.

I have been all over the world. I would prefer to travel with others but have done a lot of travel alone. A lot of the countries I have visited do not like people from the United States but for some reason like people from Texas. I guess it is the movies.

Burma is not a good place for tourists, but I had a good time there. Much of Africa is not tourist friendly nor is much of South America.

Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Asia are the best. Places like Hong Kong can be great but you really need to be careful.

Yeah, I have lots of ideas of where to go. I was just asking startraveler which places he was avoiding that weren't friendly to Americans, based on what he said.

As for those who do not like Americans.. I'm sure it depends on many things. I know some who used to travel and say they didn't like George Bush, when he was in office, and people would be friendly toward them .

Australia is at the top of my list of places to visit, but I don't think I'll make it there anytime soon, as it's an expensive trip.

There are federal watch groups that monitor international traveling conditions... can't think of them off hand... but generally it's best to listen to those warnings... unless you know a local in the country.

How is one supposed to behave around you while traveling?

I was just in NYC last month.

Well, of course. It's best to be safe.

I am always up for exploring new places, unless they are dangerous because I tend to be a bit absent minded as my husband loves to say so sometimes I get a little lost. I enjoy going back to places that I have enjoyed in the past but I say if you have already done it try something new!
I don't think I would ever be comfortable traveling on my own...too many thing go on in the world today!
I prefer the touristy spots without a doubt...tours, pictures and shopping!!!
I LOVE going overseas. Completely fascinated at the different ways things are done in other countries. If you are going to a foreign speaking country, deffinately try to learn the language or at least the basics before you go...or take someone that you know who speaks the language.

 Thanks

I was actually just asking startraveler what countries he was avoiding based on what he said, as I was curious. Thanks for the link though. It's helpful.

I have some friends who mostly travel alone and love it.

I love other countries and cultures, love traveling to new and old places, I only travel with one or more travelmates unless I am moving or meeting someone, and I choose public places unless I am someplace where I know the host and the host knows the area(or preferrably owns it).

There are lots of places whether they be non freindly governments or unfreindly groups within. Why take chances when there are countries like Australia ,England ,Germany etc. . When you know you can be relatively safe .Besides there are enough places and things to do in the good old USA to keep a person busy for a lifetime .The drug cartels in Mexico for instance have picked up they're vengeance on tourists because the govenment is cracking down on them finally.
