It is easy to try to judge somebody's character when you're seeing the whole picture.

It is also ironic that people jump to judge when they know very little about the situation.

Of the 3, which is the worst? Not for me to decide. I am not perfect, but it is in my nature to improve. Just as it is in some other's nature to do good deeds yet cheat and in others it is their nature to hurt the people they love.
However I STRONGLY disagree that a person that does not help people is the same as hurting them. While I won't usually go out of my way to help somebody I don't know, I won't stand around and do nothing while somebody is in great distress. To say a person shows bad character by being indifferent, is a very weak expectation of character.

That was why I was saying noone can really judge a persons spirituallity, noone knows every moment, thought, action in anothers life to do so. However, I give the act of seeking to make a difference by helping others a bit more credit than I can give to those who just look after their own lives. A famous quote says "The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing.". Id rather people try and make mistakes, even if that means hurting others occasionally,, than to not try at all and just 'get by'.

It doesnt imply a better or worse character to do nothing, I just think that choice can be as detrimental in the big picture as direct harm to a random individual.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by hurting people. I think physical and emotional abuse are far more severe then someone who just benignly exists and doesn't hurt someone. They may not help, but that doesn't make it bad.

I'd much rather one of my ex-bf's just not done anything, rather then scream cuss and throw things at me because he felt like he was entitled to things.
