just about 20 minutes ago me and my mom took our dogs for a walk, suddenly we got to this street and there were 2 dogs barking at us from across.They both started to cross over and were basically walking towards us when suddenly cars came.They both saw the cars and tried to run back, sadly only one got back while the other was hit.The stupid *** didnt stop and kept going and the dog that was hit was still barking,sadly another came and hit him again.I couldnt take anymore and ran across and picked him up and put him on the sidewalk,he was whimpering.I just sat down with him and started to pet him till he went.It just pains me to see an animal suffering and people dont even care, like its just a piece of trash.Today really showed how sick some people really are.

That had to be sad to watch it played out,,sorry man.
And I as love animals greatly,and this is very sad.
I had a neighbors son at 13 who was done this way.
They have never found the one who killed him.
And he had snuck out at midnight to go see his first girlfriend
and he would have lived, (his dad told me) if THEY had of stopped and called an ambulance. His son laid there, they thought, for four hours before a passer by found him and called, he lasted 15 minutes in the ER..

OMG! That is terrible.....Where do you live that people are so heartless! The poor thing. Sorry to hear that you not only had to see it, but hear it and even feel the pain from the animal.

I am glad someone was there for the dog and I'm sure it will help ease the owner's pain to know that as well. But I am very sorry for you to have to see and feel that pain!

riverside california, this is why i hate living here, ive seen dead animals before but this is the first that i had witnessed it

thanks, i just couldnt leave it to die like that, so it took a little pain off my shoulders to know that i was able to let the dog know that i was there for him.

the dog did not have any tags, but i do believe that since it was in fron of this house that had their gates opened,i believe it was theres, so it might have also been there fault if they were smart enough to close their gates.

Reminds me of Illinois, people would leave their dogs outside overnight and the coyotes would come and take them...sad really. That is one of the main reasons that I stayed out with my dogs if they were out in the middle of the night, no matter how cold it was I made sure they all came in safely.

The kindest thing you can do in this world is to do something for an animal because they cannot repay you. You certainly did a very kind deed when you stayed with this doggy until the end.

I used to go to Riverside for my work once a week and would see a lot of stray/unattended dogs. I'm afraid it's because of the huge Hispanic population and by that I mean culturally they have a different mindset regarding animals. Their priority has always had to be looking out for themeselves.
Maybe in time they will learn about our great resources up here and that you don't have to just let your pet go but rather take them to a shelter. {Not sure if this was the case here. Just sayin'...}

It is sad but it happens even in the best area of town. Several years ago my dog was killed right in front of my house broad daylight she had got out of the back fence. They never even stopped if they had been going speed limit it would have never happen. It is sad when one want even at least stop when something like that happens.

that is soooo horrible it breaks my heart when people are so inconsiderate of not stopping, my heart goes out to U!!
