Today was Lebron James's 25th birthday

Last night he was in Atlanta playing the #3 east ranked Hawks, his team and him held the Hawks to just 84pts and 10 in the 4th quarter. James tallied 14pts, 8rebounds, 10 assists along with 5steals. Today the Cavs then flew back to Cleveland for another matchup with Atlanta this time in a much closer game with Lebron James playing lights out basketball. He scored 48pts on 15-23 shooting 4-6 from 3, grabbed 10rebounds, dished 6 assists, had 2steals and 2 blocks as the Cavs beat the Hawks 106-101.

Here is a quick glance at Lebron James career so far at just 25yrs of age he is playing in his 7th season in the NBA

Lebron has averaged 20, 5 and 5 or better in every year of his career so far

Lebron is currently averaging 28pts 7rebounds 7.9assists this year

some of his career highs up to this point include 56pts, 19rebounds, 15assists, 7steals and 5blocks

Oscar Robertson "The Big O" and Lebron James are the only two players to average 27, 6 and 6 for 4 straight seasons

Alright I'll listen for it then, Ive been a Lebron James fan ever since he was distributing the ball at St Vincent St Marys H.S. he has truly developed into an all around basketball player

a terrific player no doubt, but an even better human being, I love the way he carries himself on and off the court, Iverson should have taken notes on how to do it, his unselfish play many think is his downfall, personally I think it add to his greatness. Course give me Kobe anyday on the court, and King James in life...either way you get a winner....Nice post, but The Big "o" averaged a triple double...hmmmmm

Thanks Huckleberry. I agree with the way he plays, he plays the game how your suppose to. Although Id take him on the court over Kobe without hesitation any day. Kobe is an elite NBA player, but Lebron at just 20 started playing at a level that took Kobe until his mid 20's to figure out. We all mature differently, I know but just look at there first 6 years in the league respectively. Yes Kobe had Shaq but that was all the more reason for his assists and shooting to take big strides.

Another thing I like about Lebron as opposed to Kobe is he is original. Kobe from since he came in the league has not only been a big fan of MJ's, like most people, but has gone so far as to copy him as to the way he plays and even shoots free throws. Lebron has been compared to Magic, and the Big O. In reality though Lebron plays just like Lebron. Never in the NBA have I watched such an elite athlete that prefers to distribute first and still puts up almost 30 every night.

Either one of them are great, but I go so far as to say at just 25 Lebron is in a category by himself. This February we will see his head almost hitting the rim antics for the first time in the dunk contest. Something Im sure Magic and Oscar Robertson were capable of, but not at the level of say a Vince Carter, Lebron James, MJ, or Dominique Wilkins. Dominique Wilkins as far as leaping ability and power when he dunked is really the only player I can think of that is comparable to Lebron, but thats just from the dunking aspect of the NBA.

Kobe right now is playing way better than any other point in his career, but the rings people say is whats really impressive. Sure but he was never a stand alone guy with those rings just like MJ. First him, Shaq, Glen Rice and then Robert Horry fills Rice's void. Now he has one of the deepest young teams in the league with a guy like Pau Gasol that for the most part is the best PF in the game right now. Throw in Andrew Bynum and that's an elite Front court to deal with. Kobe deserves all he has won and is one of the greatest SG's to every play the game. In my opinion though, in another 10-15 years I think Lebron will be comparable to no one.

^um, don't forget Dr J....oh it's easy to forget him, has he come down yet from the last time he took off...lmao, actually Lebron reminds me of Connie Hawkins and sugar ray richardson in the same body, but still all in all, when the game is on the line, I want the ball in Kobe's hands, and so does Kobe.....Many kids love Iverson, to me he was the last person I'd ever choose in the NBA for my team, he's a cancer to any team, it's all about him, I thought maybe he'd learn to include his teammates somewhere down the line, but he failed to grasp that part of the game, he could take lessons from Jordan, because it took Mike 5 years to learn it as well, and when he did, walla title after title, but you're right, Lebron came in the league knowing the aspects of team ball and not "I" ball.....He's one of the best players in the game now, but certainly not in a class by himself on the court, maybe he is by himself with the "class" he has shown on and off the court, but I just can't hand over the reins of him being the best, but he's in the top no doubt.......and will be for quite sometime.

My greatest team ever
Point guard....John Stockton or Mo Cheeks, maybe maravich
Shooting Guard...Jerry West, Jordan
Center.....Wilt, Bill Russell
Forwards....Dr. J., Magic (seriously, he wasn't a guard) and believe it or not, Rodman

You make good points man, hard to argue with most of them. I have not forgotten Dr. J or Spud Webb, David Thompson, the younger Jason Richardson and Shawn Kemp, definitely not the recent Shawn Kemp. Those I first listed were just a few of my favorites off the top of my head. Clyde Drexler actually reminded me of Connie Hawkins more than Lebron James. As far as in game dunking, Shawn Kemp, Dr. J, "The Human Highlight Reel" Dominique Wilkins, Daryl Dawkins, and of course MJ. So many others that could easily qualify as guys that would come down the lane and give you something to think about. MJ was the greatest scorer, he had Scottie Pippen though. Gotta be considered one of the best defenders of all time and not a bad guy to have trailing or running with you on the break. Making a case against MJ though is a little crazy, it would be like me saying Steve Young was a better qb than Joe Montana, which he was. Whole nother subject though:laughing:. Id say as far as some of the best basketball players, Id have to go with MJ,AI, and Lebron for speed and scoring combo. Lebron being the L train you rarley see people step in for the charge. Ive heard of Michael Ray Richardson, I need to do more studying on his history. Thats a strong team you put together. Here goes mine.

PG/Lebron James (thats what he played his first year, thought it should have stayed that way)
SG/Michael Jordan
SF/Larry Bird
PF/Kevin Garnett
C/Shaq O'Neal or the original king, Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon

6th Man/Earvin "Magic" Johnson(point,2guard,either forward,and center)

Would have been great to see some of the basketball you saw growing up. Must have been nice to see some of best that did it in their prime. Looks as though the NBA is in excellent hands though.

scottie pippin was the most overrated superstar I ever saw, Jordan made him, but when Jordan left he couldn't carry a water bucket let alone the bulls....

the greatest team I ever saw play was the lakers, Elgin Baylor, West, Wilt, happy hairston and either pat eiley or some other smuck, but they couldn't beat the celts, unreal.....Did you see Kobe's game winner last night, what's that 3 already this year....Phenom....Kobe, Lebron, Wade, and Carmello are worth the ticket, and yes dirk as well.....yes the NBA is in good shape.....

can't believe you'd choose Garnett over McHale, the man had more moves then ex-lax, and I thought he was far more important to boston than anyone other than bird. Lebron at point, I don't think his dribble is good enough, hell clyde Frazier would pick his pocket with such a high dribble.....I do like him at a swing position.

Ive heard of Michael Ray Richardson

Even Michael Jordan himself said he was the best player he ever played against, he was awesome and played great d-fense, but got kicked out of the league for coke, couldn't leave it alone, you'd think they'd learn after what happened to Lenny Bias

Scottie Pippen was an alright scorer, excellent defender, on ball, perimeter and help. He was nowhere near Jordan's level I agree but still, great player. Chances of a point or 2 dribbling in front of him were rare. I watched him play, and looking at his stats with the Bulls he was an all around player. Every year he was a full time starter he averaged 5 plus in assists and rebounds. He also was a great shooter, 47% for his career. When you got Jordan on the team and you can put up 20pts a night that's gonna help.

KG in his prime was the best true PF Ive watched, read about or otherwise. Much like Lebron he is a great scorer but chooses to distribute. You cant go wrong with McHale, I used to watch old Celtic games when NBAtv first came out. He always seemed to take high % shots. Lebron does dribble like a big kidnoway laugh I crack up when he backs up 5 or 10 feet then charges in.

Man Michael Ray Richardson was serious. I read a few different stories on his career. He could have dominated even more so and for a lot longer. He still did serious damage in the NBA though. I found a video on him on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgdyWZqTM3U

Rodman at forward is a solid pick, best rebounder of the modern era. He'd foul out guarding some of the All time NBA forwards. Better than haven Charles Barkley on Defense though.

thanks for the link that was even better than I remembered him, man him and bird used to really go at it, talking trash to each other throughout the whole game, but they had an infinite respect for one another. most guys feared playing against Jordan, not sugar he relished the moment.....

do you think Tim Duncan is really a forward rather than a center....and speaking of forwards, what seven footer do you know of that can dribble like Dirk, Jesus.

Your welcome, I think Tim Duncan is both. He is a Center now since the leagues has gotten quicker and smaller as far as true centers. for his first 5 or 6 years he played forward. Now that he is without Robinson he is a Center. He is an excellent shooter, I always tried to watch when he and KG matched up.

Lamar Odom has the best handles for any big man that Ive seen. Next Id have to say Chris Webber then Elton Brand . Dirk is a real 7ft player though. Even though there close in height, he is the best for actual 7ft. I almost forgot KG, he can bring it up court as well.

There is the persistent question batted back and forth in the NBA: Who is better? Kobe or LeBron? Well Kobe has the rings, LeBron does not. Kobe is past his peak, LeBron is on the way up. It's really hard to say who's stock has the highest value.
