Take the Challenge!!!!

I'll smoke in my bathroom for an hour one right after the other,
You run your car in the garage for an hour, you can stand outside the car or sit in the car, windows open.

Then come come see me.

As far as damage to the health of the planet, the car is way worse.
But cars, like cigarette smoking 30 yrs ago, is OK. We have to have cars, the world economy won't run without cars. You can't take my car away from me!

In some states and cities where smoking in public is banned, the offensive odor drifting into your neighbors yard or Apt can earn you a ticket.

This is just the first page. I know people who smoke in their house and use these, also people who don't smoke but use them for their kids allergies. Seems there could be one of these that would help and both of you could be happy...

There is no freaking way smoke from your apt is getting into your neighbors unless there is a hole in the wall big enough to walk through. She might have got a wiff of something as she walked past your door and is a whiny old b!@#$ or an ex smoker looking for something to complain about.

sorry moto, you are wrong....depending on the vent air system is IS possible for the smoke to go beyond the walls of the smoker.
ex smoker or not, i still think it is unfair that i would have to smell it. smoking is YOUR choice, and I choose not to...
to me it is not a bash fest on smokers, for the love of god i was one, but what I am saying is that we have to respect someone else personal space, that's all

I don't think most apartment buildings have a shared HVAC system. There may be a central boiler, but unless you live in an old duplex and the landlord pays the heat you usually do not share a forced air system with your neighbor.

everything that is legal is not neighborly. because a neighbor may be within their RIGHTS to call me a foul name does not make it the neighborly thing to do. IT never hurts to be considerate of others, even if the law doesnt mandate it.

Rdsox is hardly being a bad neighbor..fowl name calling has nothing to do with the op and her concern..she is concerned here or did you not pick up on that? The neighbor has some responsibility here..if it is making her child sick she should be looking into a air filter instead of just complaining.

Who cares? There are no laws to stop you smoking in your own home.
I know, but she says it's making her kids cough!!noway

Doesn't your neighbor know that kids can catch a cold?

Do you pay for your own heat? Do you have your own thermostat in your apartment to adjust your heat? If you do there is no way your smoke is coming through her vents.

Then you have a completely separate system. And she is just whining because she has seen you smoke or caught a wiff as you came out your door.

I figured as much!! I am still doing as I always have, and since I haven't gone out in a few days, voila, no complaints!!grumble I think she just looks for things to complain about!

Yep, sounds like you are snuggled up next to a whining b**ch. I bet she is single. If she is...and her old man ain't around....you are the lucky one who gets to put up with the nagging and griping. Otherwise, she would be ragging on her old man to come gripe at you.

If it were me, I would eat nothing but three day old chili with deviled eggs just to fart into the vents to test the theory about the smoke coming through the vents.

There is no stipulation in my lease, when I moved in, the landlord said smoking inside is ok!! I was fine with no complaints til now!!
If your lease states smoking is allowed then it is the neighbors problem.
I don't smoke and I don't like the smell, at the same time til my apt building is made over smoking is allowed and yet I czn smell my neighbors smoke. My problem not theirs I build the smokers candles in my apt and the smell goes away.
