"Erroll Southers has the background and experience needed to strengthen security measures at TSA. The hold placed on the nomination and confirmation by Senator DeMint runs counter to prudent national security," AFGE said. The National Treasury Employees Union said, “The agency clearly is in need of a permanent leader who can begin to resolve some of its pressing issues.” “This continued delay in seating a permanent TSA administrator only impedes efforts to strengthen the agency,” said NTEU president Colleen M. Kelley. If the Dept of Homeland Security HAS the power to require all international airports to install and maintain all that fantastic equipment that " might " have stopped the attempted attack... Then why haven't they done so long before now??? Again. Like usual, the government works strictly on a reactionary basis. Something bad happens, then it's like a Keystone Cops routine. The Government runs around, completely confused shouting out " WE HAVE TO FIX THIS ", without any real clue as to how to do it. And, of course, since the people in charge are all confused, they run to their normal fallback position. I see what you're saying. But I must respectfully disagree. Dems are not trying to pass the buck. They're trying to do the jobs they were ELECTED to do. If that means wasting time trying to get REPUBS off their back, so be it. I think Obama should blow them off. He gave them plenty of chances to participate. All they ever do is criticize. Only you and dems could take the facts and distort them this way.....IT WAS EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE OBAMA EVEN NOMINATED ANYONE TO HEAD UP THE TSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE NOMINATION DIDNT EVEN GET TO THE SENATE UNTIL NOVEMBER. So DEMINT HAS BLOCKED IT FOR ONLY ONE MONTH.....that is sure not delay and obstruction to the degree that you are trying to pin on the republicans over this matter.
