Tomorrow Knows

I waited, understanding,
on the cusp of a momentum
that would change
everything I felt of
how one would see
the next and coming days.
Easier and easier
I let go of the reins
that held me on path,
worn and becoming rutted
making it necessary to straddle
with each step, carefully,
so as not to fall on
one side or the other.
With much anticipation,
I looked out beyond the grounds,
past the gate and far beyond
the fencing that contained
all that I had put my hope into.
Yes, a dream and one, finally allowed,
I transitioned my meager, simplistic
expectations to reach, understanding the
calculating brevity in my life span.
One never knows.
Life is unpredictable.
Today I will, for tomorrow, who knows.
