I just thought I’d let you know
How the story really ended
You remember the one
We started to write it and then
You left me all alone
To finish it by myself with nothing
But my dreams and my tears
On the pillow of sand I built as a last resort

I say I’m over you to anyone
Who will listen to my lies
My search for others is ongoing
A futile waste of our time
No one can reach the mirror I have of you
No matter how hard they try
The warmth lasts as the clock winds down
And then it all turns cold

I wonder where you are
And who the new old one is
Is her name as nice as mine
Does she need you the way I do
The way I said I did before I knew
Just how stupid I really was

I just wanted you to know
How it all ended how I finally ended
Why I let it all consume me
Like a fire raging out of control
I didn’t try to escape the inevitable
Some things are what they should be
We get what we deserve what we want
But not what we need
I wanted you in spite of you
But now all I have is me.

fairy tales seldom come true, that damn tooth fairy still owes me three dollars....
