I really feel bad there are some of you that feel releif because you were missing old times and your family. I had a wonderful Christmas, better than years and this will be year 4 since visiting & seeing mine and 13 since spending Christmas with them..or any holiday. I still can't afford to fly out there. Acceptance is very important to my state of mind, that somethings(alot) may never be again, but at least they happened. Memories are very important in keeping them close, and phone calls, email., and the knowing that we love each other.
I look around and see how much I have, had have and am very thankful. This holiday is about a very special event that happened on this earth and somehow we've twisted it into presents, what I wanted and/or got, gave and how I'm feeling about not having things I wanted. It is about what we are, why we are and who we are to be by beautiful teachings by the person whom it's about. If the date is wrong, so be it. Even if you don't beleive, it is the only true day that we celebrate to recognize what we could be and strive to be; that we were given this beautiful gift called life and all that is asked in return is to live it wisely, kindly, loving each other and to recognize what It all really is about...
My words are not intended to hurt anyone but a sort of awakening to help remember what It is all about, whomever, whatever you beleive..just remember It is.
Peace to you.

We all approach life differently; I have run the gamunt of all these feelings. First time EVER I didn't talk to my son a xmas. Talked to his wife & kids & that was good. I feel good in the skin I wear, so I guess life fits.

Not much different for me....no big relief. It has been such a non-event for many years anyway. I guess I don't experience all the stress build up for it. I use to so I do remember that feeling of relief...

What do you mean Christmas is over? My holiday doesn't end until January 7th. We also celebrate the 3 Kings Day (Los 3 Reyes Magos) on January 6th.

We always leave our tree up til the Feast of the Epiphany (3 kings arriving to the stable). Have done this my whole life.
