A lot of guys ( no matter age ) are shy at making first contact. If you show just a little interest it helps them get started in the getting to know you process.

I can give you two reasons why men, well alot of men, won't approach women.

A). Some women out their have made the terms "biitch/snotty/arrogant" and combine them into one package. Basically, these women (and I do believe their are not a whole lot out their, but in the dude community, when their is a species like this, you freaking run) have tarnished the image of women. Now, men should not project this onto all ladies out their, but the fact is we do. And, it doesn't have to do with fear of rejection. It is basically the thought of "Why would any rational dude want to put up with a chick like that?". Now, I can usually tell when a chick is this "biitchy/snotty/arrogant" (we will shorten this to BSA), because most of the time they wear it all over their face, or it could be in their body language. And while men do like a challenge, the lot of us don't want to challenge a woman who has made up her mind that she is going to dominate a dude (not in the bed, because we so love that) in life. This chicks scream "Control Freak" and normally they were either burned really bad by a guy in a previous relationship, or they watched it happen to someone they knew. A "BSA" is something most men will avoid at all costs, and even though men shouldn't project a BAS attitude on all women, we do it simply because it is a good defense mechanism.


B). Majority of dudes are wusses. We talk a big game, and while some of us do take the risk to approach a woman, the majority of us don't. Yes, all men have their moments, especially when the signs are their (or have been in place for awhile, or a friend tells the guy "Dude....Wake the f**k up! Chick likes you!") and they will approach a woman. But for the most part, men do tend to make any and all excuses as to why they shouldn't approach a woman. Yes, fear of rejection does creep in, but it isn't just that. A guy can say, "Well, she is too pretty, and she would never want a guy like me", or "She probably has a man", or "I would just mess it up anyways, so why bother making myself look like an azz". Thing is, when guys normally make themselves look like an azz (in a good, cute way) the ladies normally appreciate it. Still, men will try to come up with a reason not to say something. Men who are geeks, jocks, gothic, thrashers, skaters, preppy....doesn't matter. It affects all dudes.

Anyways, that is how Goof sees it, and so take that as Gospel because I am always right.

Or if they are already divorced 50, they are taking a chance to do the things they want without having to worry about a wife/gf for a change...depending on how recently they were divorced...but I'm not 50 just things I've observed and heard talking to people

In my experience, it's simply "Conservation of Energy."

Why send out a bunch of e-mails and be ignored, when you can do absolutely nothing at all and be equally ignored?

Fear of rejection led me to only date women who approached me, which BTW hasn't been working out real well for me either.

I have a suspicion that my fly was down.....
