Ok, I have not finished reading the rest, got as far as Spiders post
after mine. Spider, if you wanted a dictionary equivalent you can have looked it up yourself. Instead you asked for explanation. I thought I had made it clear that I was offering my VERSION of an explanation. In other words, I was defining my particular set of semantics where these two words are involved. Since you seem to utilize semantics to suit your purpose so often, I was simply explaining mine on this topic. |

Redykeulous,
You seem offended that I disagree with you. It's actually kind of funny that you got offended that someone disagreed with you in a thread about tolerance. |
|
|
|
The only offense I took, was that you did not accept my post in the
nature in which it was given. I was only pointing out that you overlooked an honest attempt to join in your conversation, from my point of view. So my feelings were a little hurt. Amazing how that can come through, even in a written post. It was not my intention in that post to sound argumentative. |

KariZan posted "spider i hope you and boredchick get to go on a
date together i reckon you 2 would really hit it off to gether she is a good sort mate and it sounds like you are both on the wavelength" It's funny he does this in the thread entitled "Tolerance" Like Spider said we are friends. No offense buddy Like the topic, I must tolerate child-like behavior from a GROWN 53-year old. |

Redykeulous,
I'm sorry that it seemed that way. I took your post as your opinion and then I disagreed. I had an opinion on this subject from the moment I created the thread, but I wanted to get other people's opinions. If I had started out by offering my opinion, the thread would have been focused on critiquing my position, rather than others offering their own. |

A wonderful friend of mine sent this to me saying that she thought it
would resonate within me...as it has and does... May all who read these wonderful words be of understanding... If You Made Gentler the Churlish World If you have spoken something beautiful, Or touched the dead canvas to life, Or made the cold stone to speak -- You who know the secret heart of beauty; If you have done one thing That has made gentler the churlish world, Though mankind pass you by, And feed and clothe you grudgingly -- Though the world starve you, And God answer not your nightly prayers, And you grow old hungering still at heart, And walk friendless in your way, And lie down at last forgotten -- If all this befall you who have created beauty, You shall still leave a bequest to the world Greater than institutions and riches and commerce, And by the immutable law of the human heart The God of the universe is your debtor, If you have made gentler the churlish world. Tolerance, is reading some of these posts in here that are all too close
to being rude, unintelligent, and plain ole mean. Some are in here trying to trouble shoot and some just are not in the mood for letting it go. This was supposed to be an informative thread. Not one of talking about whos a Christian or not one. I am not pointing fingers here either. I found myself feeling a little anxious just reading it. I guess it did affect me, I posted. Why can't we tolerate the differences that we all have, and accept the fact that there are those differencs? Kat |

When it come to tolerance in religion there no such thing. The reason is
because in the name of (insert any religion), people will justify any cause that suits their agenda. Examples: the Crusades were fought to recover the holy land, Palistines and Isrealis fight over the right to Jerusalum which is a place of religious importance to both groups. Catholics fought Protestants in wars because of slight differences in practices and beliefs. Sunni and Shia Muslims fight each other because one group doesn't recognize the secession of religious leaders of the other. People should be weary when someone says "God wants us to (insert blank here)" because it only creates a cause that has no rational justification. |
